News from the 2008 Saab Owners Convention
The 2008 Saab Owners Convention has been taking place this weekend in Devens, Mass, and whilst I couldn’t be there and didn’t ask anyone to do anything on TS’s behalf, Alexandre was kind enough to take some notes and pass them on.
.
Notes include info on the Saab 9-1, TTiD for the US, engines in the 9-4x and a little on the 9-5. I’ve also thrown in a link to some initial images that have been posted.
Tell GM About It, part II - Saab 9-1
A very wise person recently told me that GM is a bit like a slightly deaf old man. You really have to yell loud to get your point across but eventually, he’ll hear you. Saab 9-X photoshop fun

This is a pretty big paradigm shift. One that alters whatever considerations I had about my own potential for owning a Saab 9-1 in the future as I’d never pictured it being a car of that (lack of) size.
.
The bottom line: it’s going to be small, which is exactly what a compact car should be, I guess.
Saab 9-1 - the ‘news’
Whilst I was sleeping there was an article published over at Automotive News that’s been the subject of plenty of discussion elsewhere on the tubes.
.
The news is that if the Saab 9-1 is built, it’s likely to be on GM’s Gamma architecture, rather than the Delta architecture as originally conceived. If it really is news at all, then it’s huge. Unlike the car, which will be quite small….
Questions that need answers
Tonight I’m emailing representatives from both Saab Automobile (ie. in Sweden) and SaabUSA and I’ll be trying to get answers to the following issues. These have grown in prominence recently, and for those of us who like to be reassured about Saab’s future, I think requesting some answers is fair enough.
The Saab 9-1
The fundamental [...]
