Saab Global Snapshot – November 2007

The following video is of the presentation made by Saab Automobile’s top dude, Jan-Ake Jonsson.

It was recorded at the Australian launch of the 2008 Saab 9-3 range, in Melbourne, on November 2nd, 2007.

This presentation is an overview of Saab’s performance and current market offering, but it also gives a few news-type items as well, such the possibility of Saab going with all BioPower or diesel models in the Swedish market. There’s a few other newsy items there as well. It makes for interesting listening and is just over 15 minutes in length.

I also recorded a one-on-one interview with Jan-Ake Jonsson, which I’ll be presenting as a podcast in a few days time.

As they like to say over there in Detroit – Stay tuned.

The ladies of the Australian International Motor Show – Part II

I told you back at the slideshow that there’d be a second part to this……

As you may know, I was unable to attend the Motor Show myself this year, so Richo had to go it alone. Here again, we have some of those lovely young women from the AIMS, but this time on video. Richo got them all to record a personal message.

Now, the next thing to figure out is whether this is aimed at me or SaabUSA’s Steve Shannon…..

And if you’re looking for cars from the AIMS, they’re here :-)

Saab Parts Going Cheap – the SDCC sale

This video was shot during my time in Sweden for the Saab Festival back in June 2007.

The SDCC sale is a huge affair, with heaps of new-old stock going for absolute peanuts. Wood or carbon fibre dashboard kits for SEK400. Gearboxes, engines, panels, scale models, clothing, books…..you name it.

It’s one of the many reasons you should head over for Saab Festival when it’s on again in 2009.

Come drive with me…

This is a video I shot whilst in Trollhattan for the Saab Festival. It’s a short drive from the hotel I was staying at (The Swania – great place) to the Saab Museum.

Lots of Saabs on the way and especially in the carpark. And note the Toppola at the end!

Seeing this one brought back a whole bunch of good memories.

I put the music with it as the wind noise on the video camera was terrible. Please be kind in your commentary, as someone you all know is playing bass on that one (you can comment on the odd timing on one of the drum fills in the first verse, though).

Australian International Motor Show – we’ll be there

AIMS

Hey Hey!!

After a week or so of applying but not knowing, I’m pleased to announce that Trollhattan Saab will be reprazentin’ at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney on October 11.

This is media day, so Richo will have the models, the cars that is, all to himself without the grubby, smelly old general public getting in the way.

The new 2008 Saab 9-3 will be there INCLUDING the Turbo X, so I’m sure Richo will have plenty to drool over (like he wouldn’t have, anyway).

I won’t be making the trip this year, but here’s a reminder of what we got up to last year (IMPORTANT – skip the last three seconds or so if you have sensitive ears).

It was interesting watching that back.

The TRD Aurion that Richo was sitting in when he went all bulemic has only recently been released – and recalled – as a dealer model blew a rod on a test drive. They’ve taken them all of the sales floor while each car produced (only around 150) gets checked out.

The Hummer they unveiled at the start has only recently gone on sale as well. I saw my first H3 here in Hobart yesterday morning.

It’s hard to believe it was only a year ago.

XWD – a reminder

I really feel like I need to take a breath after all the Turbo X stuff this week. It’s been quite overwhelming keeping up with it and absorbing it all. I really can’t wait to see the Turbo X in person.

I know you’ve all probably seen this before, but circumstances led me to take a look at it again tonight, and I though I’d post it here again.

For those of you who might be fortunate enough to pick up a Turbo X, this is the sort of fun you could be enjoying next year. It’s Kenneth Backlund, a driver fro the Saab Performance Team driving me around a test track in a XWD-equipped Saab 9-3 SportCombi. It did have the full XWD system, though Par Brandt and I couldn’t be sure if it had the full 280hp on tap.

It was a helluva lot of fun.

Frankfurt Video

OK, lets try this. Rayman has sent me two video links. I haven’t seen them, so let’s see them together…maybe

——

This first one features a quick look at the interior of the Saab Turbo X:

The second video is a look over the Saab stand at the Frankfurt show. This thing looks huge, but I bet it’s quite humble compared to some of the exhibitors there.

As I write this, the final one doesn’t seem to be working. Hopefully YouTube will get their act together shortly.
