My thanks to Kaz for sending in this great shot of his current 9-3 Aero.
I’ll let him tell his story and a little about the location, too.
My love affair began with my uncle’s purchase of a 1983 Saab 900 Turbo 16S, the kick from the turbo was nothing like I had ever felt before, and I was only 8 years old at the time.
Ever since, I’ve always had a soft spot for the company, and always wanted to own one when I grew older.
Now I’m 31, I’ve had quite a few. My parents work for Vauxhall, and therefore we have access to family schemes for a selection of vehicles across the GM range, a few years ago they finally added Saab to the list of vehicles available, and I immediately made my acquaintance with a 9-3 Vector 1.8t convertible, and since I’ve had several cars. Two Aero 2.0T convertibles, a 2.8V6T Aero Sport Combi, and two 2.8V6T Aero Convertibles. I currently have the SS, which is a cracking car, feels much livelier than the convertibles, but the soft top has the edge in my opinion with the overall feel-good factor.
The SS will return to GM in about 8 weeks
, but I’ll be OK……I’m picking up a 2007 Convertible in its place.
The photo was taken at the Cardington Airship hangers, which were used during World War 2 for storage and construction of massive airships.
Kaz tells me these airship hangers were most recently used during the filming of the movie, Batman Begins, for some of the Batmobile scenes.
When you click on the following image, it will enlarge to a massive 1920×1200 jpeg, which is big enough for a 24″ iMac. You can then resize it to your requirements.
