Trollhattan Saab Wallpaper No. 5

Trollhattan Saab wallpapers are all sourced either from photos taken by visitors to this site. They’re enthusiast’s shots, taken for enthusiasts.

My thanks to Kaz for sending in this great shot of his current 9-3 Aero.

I’ll let him tell his story and a little about the location, too.

My love affair began with my uncle’s purchase of a 1983 Saab 900 Turbo 16S, the kick from the turbo was nothing like I had ever felt before, and I was only 8 years old at the time.

Ever since, I’ve always had a soft spot for the company, and always wanted to own one when I grew older.

Now I’m 31, I’ve had quite a few. My parents work for Vauxhall, and therefore we have access to family schemes for a selection of vehicles across the GM range, a few years ago they finally added Saab to the list of vehicles available, and I immediately made my acquaintance with a 9-3 Vector 1.8t convertible, and since I’ve had several cars. Two Aero 2.0T convertibles, a 2.8V6T Aero Sport Combi, and two 2.8V6T Aero Convertibles. I currently have the SS, which is a cracking car, feels much livelier than the convertibles, but the soft top has the edge in my opinion with the overall feel-good factor.

The SS will return to GM in about 8 weeks :( , but I’ll be OK……I’m picking up a 2007 Convertible in its place.

The photo was taken at the Cardington Airship hangers, which were used during World War 2 for storage and construction of massive airships.

Google maps link.

Kaz tells me these airship hangers were most recently used during the filming of the movie, Batman Begins, for some of the Batmobile scenes.

When you click on the following image, it will enlarge to a massive 1920×1200 jpeg, which is big enough for a 24″ iMac. You can then resize it to your requirements.

Time for another Trollhattan Saab desktop wallpaper, and seeing it’s the unofficial month of 99 loving and officially speaking the end of the northern winter, I thought this might be appropriate.

It’s ctm’s old 1984 Saab 99 with a lovely layer of the white stuff on it. Just to remind you Swedes of the weather you (hopefully) wont see too much of for another 6 months or so.

It’s time for another Saab wallpaper.

This one’s from my very own driveway. A close-up of my Viggen’s wheel taken by TS’s resident lens genius, Stu.

Click the image to enlarge to the mammoth 24″ iMac size of 1920×1200 pixels. You should then be able to resize it to fit your needs.

TS Desktop Wallpaper – No 2

There’ll likely be a few early additions to the TS Desktop Wallpaper collection. I’ve been wanting to offer these for a long time now so there’s a bit of a back log.

This one, however, has come in fresh. It’s by Mike Jager, keeper of the Per Eklund fan site and also the Per Eklund News blog. I’m really pleased Mike’s got in touch as I’ve been wanting to track Per’s progress a little closer and the news blog makes that task a lot easier.

Per’s building a new car for 2007. It’s a red one, which is a good idea as everyone knows that red cars go faster!

Here’s Mikes photo, taken at the European Championship rallycross race at Valkenswaard, the Netherlands.

Click to enlarge the photo to 24″ iMac size (1920×1200). You can the resize it to your needs.

TS Desktop Wallpapers – No 1

This is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now. It’s just been hard getting all the software I need sorted out to do it on one machine.

Think of these as a sort of super Saab O The Week, but less frequent and much more special.

The aim for these is to provide some of the best user-generated Saab desktop wallpapers on the web. These will all be pictures that are of people’s real cars, or in the event of wallpapers like this one, pictures that were taken by regular visitors to this site. What it boils down to is excellent Saab wallpapers for the people, by the people. Pride of ownership.

This first shot of the Aero-X was taken by Richo, my mate in Sydney, when we both attended the Sydney Motor Show.
