Trollhattan Saab has changed!
The site you're viewing now is the original Trollhattan Saab weblog, though it's now an archive only and no new material is posted here. As of February 2009, all new material is posted at our new site - Saabs United.

Welcome, Mr President.
That’s about as political as I’ll get here, aside from saying that it’s nice to be able to say something like that again and feel good about it.
It’s a light day today.

It certainly is a time for change, isn’t it?
Chrysler have given 35% of their company to Fiat, basically for nothing. You US folks might yet get to experience true beauty in automotive design, if and when Chrysler dealerships start stocking Alfa Romeos.
And Saab will have their change as well. February 17 can’t come quick enough.

The AutoExtremist makes another very good point today.
Times are tough, but one man’s tough times are another man’s opportunity. Audi are taking that opportunity to up their marketing spend in a bid to cut even deeper into Mercedes’ and BMW’s market share.
If Saab were ever looking to spread a message about quality, independence and culture, 2009 is the time. There are plenty of agencies looking for work and rates are going to be cheaper, meaning you can get your message out there further for the same spend.

The Temp Wars continue, with Saabrep getting very thankful for his heated seats in Michigan
…..whilst Alaero gives thanks for ice-cold cooling in Melbourne……
And Grohlinator’s temp sensor is all stuffed up. 122F might be possible somewhere in the world right now, but not in northern New York!

Interesting that 122 degrees Fahrenheit is the same as 50 degrees Celsius.

I don’t have really high hopes for the Fiat-Chrysler deal.
I am sure that we will see Fiat platforms sold in North America, including the Brera/159 platform that was originally destined to be the 2004 Saab 9-5, however these will likely be cost-cut beyond recognition.
I am thinking of stamped-steel suspension components, colour-matched “plush velour” interiors and bodies that aren’t galvanized. It will be a step up for Chrysler compared to the Sebring, but not something that a reader of this blog would be interested in.
SAABoy, the outside air temperature sensor is located under the front bumper. It is black and roughly the size of a ball-point pen cap. I don’t know the diagnostic procedures, but I would start by measuring continuity at both ends (sensor and ECU). If it’s a two-wire sensor, it probably changes resistance at different temperatures. If it’s three wires, it will vary the voltage between signal and ground (the third wire being 5v regulated).

It has been snowing for the last 15 days here in the Cleveland area (not all at once of course), so hopefully we get a break!
At least the negative temps have somewhat subsided and we might see temps above freezing over the next few days. Maybe I can actually clean my car up a bit.. What a mess!

It’s incredible. Apple just posted the best quarterly revenue and earnings in its history… And they now have $28.1 billion in cash. Buy a stake in Saab, please?
