You know I love wheels, especially Saab wheels. They maketh the car.

I received an enquiry via email the other day about Saab’s new double blade wheels and that sent me scrambling for Saab’s accessory pages. The collection is actually much bigger than I thought it was. I knew Saab made a lot of wheels, but this is rediculous!

How does 51 different wheels coving the 9-5 and 9-3 ranges going back to 1998 sound?

So here they are. These are the ones available here in Australia and whilst there might be a few not available here, we traditionally get just about everything on the list so this should be pretty comprehensive.

If you see something you like, you can download the image. The long number in the filename is actually the Saab part number your dealer would need to look up to quote on price and availability. E.g. for the image with the filename “5531363_95_s.jpg” the 5531363 is the part number.

Saab dealers also use an “ALU” code for wheels but I haven’t tracked these down as yet, but will add them later where possible. They can be hard to find, so if you know some of the ALU codes then please add them in comments (I’ve included a generic number with each wheel so that you can reference it e.g. wheel #15 is ALU##).

The cars shown in the pictures are the ones that I’ve used to look the wheel up, but some are available for both the 9-5 and the 9-3.

Thanks for the info, Swade. Maybe the 900 should get some new shoes some time in the near future. But I must say that some of those rims were a bit odd. The Super Aero rims looked strange in the picture. Is it just the picture or were those different than the 900/9000 wheels?

They’re (almost) all CGI images, Andy, so they may look slightly different in the metal.

    Some wheels’ ALU numbers.

    wheel #1 is ALU 54
    wheel #2 is ALU 55
    wheel #4 is ALU 59
    wheel #9 is ALU 42
    wheel #10 is ALU 50
    wheel #11 is ALU 45
    wheel #12 is ALU 46
    wheel #22 is ALU 39
    wheel #49 is ALU 36
    wheel #50 is ALU 52
    wheel #51 is ALU 51

I have seen some of the other wheels in brochures, but with no ALU number quoted.

    Hi Swade, as I have nearly all the Saab catalogs. Taking the info from the Accessories catalog;

From the international site, you can download the catalog, big part of the wheels has the ALU code, http://dyc.saab-web.com/main/image/accessories/pdf/ACC_IntEng.pdf

    1.ALU54
    2.ALU55
    3.ALU62
    4.ALU59(one of my prefered)
    5.ALU73(I love this one)
    6.ALU74
    7.ALU71
8.It doesn’t appear the ALU code in the catalog.
    9.ALU42
    10.ALU50
11.ALU45(In the catalog I attach there is a mistake, isn’t the ALU59 and 17″x7,5. This wheel is 17″x7). In the spanish catalog its correct.
    12.ALU46
13.It doesn’t appear in the Catalog or EPC/EAC
14.It doesn’t appear in the EPC/EAC or catalog
    15.Idem.
    16.idem.
    17.idem.
18.Idem(There is only this 18″ for the 9-5)
    19.idem.
20.ALU47- In the EPC/EAC the ref.400127882 MY2002-2008 but in other places the 32026147
    21.ALU29
    22.ALU39
    23…..
    24.
    25.
    26.ALU8
    27.ALU22
    28.
    29.ALU28
    30.ALU32.
    31.ALU23
    32.
    33.ALU26.
    34.ALU27(STANDARD IN THE 9-5 V6t GRIFFIN)
    35.ALU25
    36.ALU31
    37.ALU33
    38.ALU40
    39.ALU35
    40.ALU41
    41.ALU34
    42.
    43.
    44.
    45.ALU38
    46.ALU36
    47.ALU48
    48.
    49.ALU36
    50.ALU52
    51.ALU51

Then there are some of the new ones, like the ALU79, used as standard equipment in the XWD models, is very similar to the ALU73, but in 17″, I am interested to fit those in my 9-3ss.

here there is the OEM ref. http://www.trollhattansaab.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/saab-wheels.jpg

then the ALU77, the TurboX wheels without the dark grey.

    regards

After all that, my all-time faves are still:

    Inca
    3 spoke Sport
    3 spoke Delta
    Viking
    Aero
    Super Aero

    Guess I’m a stubborn old goat :-)

  • 7 Ron57RCNo Gravatar // Jan 5, 2009 at 3:01 am

    Some more ALU numbers.

    wheel #3 is ALU 62
    wheel #5 is ALU 73
    wheel #7 ? ALU 71 ?
    wheel #47 is ALU 48

I have seen some of the other wheels in brochures, but with no ALU number quoted.
    (These were # 14, 15,16, 17, 42, 44 and 48. I found them in “Saab Genuine Accessories 2007″ UK brochure).

    Don’t like #50 (5 spoke EVO) much… really accumulates curb damage…

  • 9 MatsNo Gravatar // Jan 5, 2009 at 4:34 am

    10, 29, 38 and 40 are my favorites….

  • 10 DannyNo Gravatar // Jan 5, 2009 at 4:39 am

My 9-3 Conv has the 15″ 3-spoke deltas (#31). Those and #27 seem to be the most common ones I see.

  • 11 2-DonNo Gravatar // Jan 5, 2009 at 8:36 am

#46 Please. Those things look great on the hatch!

  • 12 WillyDNo Gravatar // Jan 5, 2009 at 8:40 am

Anyone know the year of the 9-3 in photo #46?

  • 13 swadeNo Gravatar // Jan 5, 2009 at 9:00 am

Willy, that’ s a 9-3 Aero hatch, probably from 2001 or 2002. Same front and rear bumpers as the Viggen and a few interior bits from the Viggen as well. A mighty nice car to drive.

  • 14 WillyDNo Gravatar // Jan 5, 2009 at 12:10 pm

And mighty nice looking too! Thanks Swade.

  • 15 AussielarsNo Gravatar // Jan 7, 2009 at 11:47 pm

So many nice mags. But why can’t Saab produce the Aero X wheel? I just love that turbine look; it looks fast standing still.
