I’m not putting too much faith in this one.

ctm forwarded me a link to a Swedish publication called vibilgare.se who have written a little story on the next Saab 9-5 and they’ve included this illustration as a hint to what it might look like.

saab_9-5_framtid

The main reason I don’t want to put any faith in it is because that front end looks like a gussied up Toyota Camry from a few years ago. Yechh!

A more objective reason would be that ctm informs me that these guys don’t have any sort of track record for breaking news or images, so it looks like it’s just an attempted prediction more than anything else.

Move along. Nothing to see here…..

I am expecting something a little more radical to be honest with you.

This is a little way off.

For a start the A pillars are blacked out -just like on the Suzuki Swift -to give the curved turret look.

Oh and the sides are higher and slabbier- a sill kit will make that look even worse…

And the tail is higher and more concave.

CAR magazine Jan 09 has some amusing, why are waiting new Saab 9-5 commentary….

If you want to see a really Saaby Classic shape, check out the arse of the new Opel Insignia hatchback version………

Lance: Hopefully Saab’s new owners will decide a hatchback is a necessary part of the new 9-5’s range?

there was a comment in the article that spypics has been seen of the new 9-5. I can’t rember seeing any? If the got the facts right in the article then 2009 will be a good Saab year with launch of 9-3X, 9-4X and 9-5…
    seems a bit to much…
Also they talk about a 1.6 litre engine for the 9-5.

I have also bought the new CAR and did read the comment about the new 9-5, where it was indeed mentioned the A-pillar would be blacked out.

History will tell us if the 9-5 will be the most exciting car to never have been launched due to the company gone bust…

mr_ebbot: That article must be quite a bit out of date. It’s been known for some time that the 9-4x won’t arrive until 2010 if it ever arrives at all.

Ken H: I may not be the most optimistic Saab fan around, but I’m glad I don’t share your level of pessimism! I’m sure we’ll see a new 9-5. As to whether it’s exactly the car that GM was planning, remains to be seen.

Hope it comes more up like the pic we saw some months ago.

That scetch is a mix of almost every pic that´s been around. Nothing new there. Though it might be quite close to a real thing.

Front glrille is wrong for a start. It cannot be like that. It just simply cannot based on how all the concepts look like.

@markac: absolutely include hatchbacks. Note that U.S. sales of SUVs were down 51% Sept-Nov. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/05/business/05auto.html?ref=todayspaper

Americans will be wanting cars with cargo room to carry their stuff to flea markets and sleep in after all else is sold…

actually, I’ve only had hatchbacks. so handy.

This drawing of an alleged 9-5 looks suspicious are they planning to scrape the ground?

hmm well i think the front looks like this

so hopefully it’ll be better than that

I read the entire article and it’s a collection of all the stories that have been around for some time.
The only thing important is that new 9-5 will be presented in Geneve as a concept car; the car won’t be available until 2010. But that’s nothing we couldn’t have said here.
Does anybody know when is the Geneve Motor show?
My personal opinion is that GM will wait well until 2H 2009 to present the car, and will move new 9-5 to 2Q or maybe 2H 2009.

    Kram!

    bastiano,

    March 3-15.

Karen: So far it’s always been denied that the new 9-5 will come in a hatchback variant (it has? – SW). Hopefully Saab’s new owners will be more flexible.

Speaking of new owners, Saabhistory is trying to eliminate possible buyers of Saab Automobile by asking them point blank if they want to by Saab? So far everyone has said no except for BMW who is yet to reply. Personally whilst I think Ryan’s intentions are honourable, I sincerely doubt that any potential buyer of Saab would publicly announce anything until they have a deal. Announcing you intend to buy Saab publicly, only gives GM an advantage. Big business just isn’t done that way.
