Another unnamed source at GM has come out to refute the earlier unnamed source from GM who said that they couldn’t find a buyer for Saab.
From the AFP report at CNN Money that had the headline: GM Denies Problems In Finding Saab Buyers
General Motors Corp. (GM) on Thursday dismissed reports that it hasn’t found any interested buyers for Saab AB (SAAB-B.SK), as it has quietly shopped around the Swedish brand.
“It’s still early in the process,” one GM official familiar with the proceedings said. “It’s going to take some time.”
It’s not quite the denial the headline denotes, but still….
So that’s one source in both camps. The score is tied. Can we get a decider out of the Detroit Auto Show or is this best out of five?

It was a bit hard to believe that GM had given up finding a buyer for Saab after only a month. It was a month with holidays in it too. But then most of what GM has done with Saab has been half hearted, could it be any different in it’s attempt to find a buyer? I guess we’ll see…

Yeap 2-3 months is way to short time to find a buyer. This can take 1-2 years atleast. Buying a car brand when financial markets are in a mess is a bit risky and i guess the new owner wants to see whats in Saabs product portfolio in terms of future products to evaluate if it suits the new owner.
