Yes, this is post number 5,000 here at Trollhattan Saab. Phew!

I wish I had something huge and lofty to report in order to do the milestone properly, but I don’t. Let’s just count last night’s Turbo X entry as post #5K and call it done, shall we? It was a big effort, after all.

——

I’m away from home at the moment, spending the week in northwest Tasmania for work. Greetings from a very sunny, quite beautiful Wynyard. I’ll get some photos later as it really is something to see this time of year.

Unfortunately I’m in a Toyota Aurion, whose role in edifying my soul is confined to the adequate conveyance of said soul to the place of edification. Grrrrrr. Whitegoods on wheels.

My confinement will have the usual effect on the posting rate here this week.

——

As people have noted in comments, TTAC posted a review of the Turbo X the same day as I did. Michael Karesh can add his name to the list of people who can swallow his own coconut because he complained about the exhaust. I’m giving no middle ground on this. IMHO it wasn’t loud enough, and I’ve got whatever the hearing equivalent is of 20/20 vision.

The encouraging thing about this review is the response it gets in comments. Aside from the odd TTAC bonehead coliseum comment (the coliseum’s a very appropriate description and I convey my thanks to whoever it was who left that descriptor here the other day), there’s a reasonable amount of goodwill towards the car there.

——

CTM shot me an email overnight, remarking on the fact that there’s been near-zero comment from Saab about the financial crisis currently faced by the corporate parent. In fact, there’s been precious little from GM Europe as a whole.

That’s changing slowly, though.

I don’t have links with me, but one German paper went so far as to suggest that GM are shopping Saab around, which I don’t believe at this point.

One of the Swedish papers reported this morning that GM Europe have written to German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, asking for a US-style bailout package. They claim that Opel is hurting quite a bit, and even include Saab in their supplications, stating that the little Swede is being killed slowly by exchange rate problems.

——

Over to you. I’m off to work. Be back later this evening with a few photos of the area and whatever Saab news has cropped up between now and then.

Great job and keep it up!

Oh, btw, I like this Aurion: http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/20/toyota-australia-launches-trd-aurion-with-323-h/

If only we had a Toyota like that in the US. Since the demise of the Celica, Supra and MR2, I honestly think the sportiest Toyota is the Tacoma TRD… it’s the only thing with a decent engine and a stick, anyway.

Congrats on reaching the 5000 mark. I bet you wish you had the Toyota Aurion that Rogan mentioned? Last year when I was working in Tassie, I had a sports Mitsubishi 380 as a hire car. I didn’t think it was too bad. It just needed a bit more refinement which unfortunately Mitsubishi Australia lacked the budget to do, and Australian built Mitsubishis are now history….

Kroum: LOL!! I thought that term had gone by the wayside.

Considering where we were this spring, it’s gratifying to see #5000.

    Vive la C900!!!

I love this site. Admittedly, I’ve been checking it less since I stopped driving a Saab, but that will change as soon as I start driving one again :p

    To 5000 more!

PS: I’ve never heard the phrase “swallow his own coconut” before, and it made me laugh pretty hard.
