My Youtube subscription updater shot me an email overnight to tell me that Monkeyknifefight13 put a new video online.
That’s always an exciting thing because Monkeyknifefight13 works for McCann Erickson, Saab’s advertising agency. His latest video is the new Saab ad for the US market, an ad for XWD called Read The Road.
Embedded video isn’t working too well on this site at the moment, so I can’t post the video here in the article.
You can watch it in the sidebar on the right, or click here to watch it at Youtube.

Black Ice… The new AC/DC album…
They must have got a new lead singer in for this one……hmmmmm. I think I prefer their old sound.
The ad should’ve said “THE most advanced all-wheel drive system” just for, you know, kicks.
When I started to like them, Brian Johnson was the singer. I think the Ben Scott era was good but it was another AC/DC then. So I can’t say which one is the best.
I’ve been seeing this ad a lot on TV in the Boston market. Mostly on ‘cable’ channels like ESPN & MSNBC.
There’s actually 2 of these commercials. The other is a better commercial, saying something like, Saab owners have always seen things in red? or something (makes no sense), but much better music. It’s for the red tag event. Good times seeing Saab ads. They’re almost all on MSNBC and CNN.
Saw that advert about two weeks ago, thought it was good, especially promoting XWD.
I was very happy to see this add. With all the gloom and doom, this was a small bright spot for me.
OT, but “monkey knife fight” is an allusion to a classic episode of The Simpsons. Monkeyknifefight13 must be a Simpsons fan. Good on him/her.
CTM,
Bon Scott put AC/DC on the map with songs like “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap”, “Big Balls”, “Jailbreak” , “Let There Be Rock”, “Whole Lotta Rosie” and of course “Highway to Hell”.
After he died, Brian Johnson kept the momentum going with Back in Black album and the rest was history. But the two singers had very different styles which also played out in the difference in their music in each of the Scott and Johnson eras.
Sorry to digress [grin]
Maybe as an Aussie Swade will chime in and give his authoritative commentary on AC/DC !
How do you spell AC/DC?
Ok I love the song… in the SAAB Ad can I get the song?
thanks
