Welcome to Northeast Florida Saab Club

Trollhattan Saab has changed!
The site you're viewing now is the original Trollhattan Saab weblog, though it's now an archive only and no new material is posted here. As of February 2009, all new material is posted at our new site - Saabs United.
Please join us at Saabs United and get your daily Saab fix from Saab sources all around the world.

I’d like to welcome the Northeast Florida Saab Club to the list of Saab Car Clubs that I maintain here on the website.

They’re a new club, having only formed in the last few months after some casual get-togethers between Saab owners that got acquainted mostly through their collective postings at SaabCentral. They have no membership fees at present and exist purely to share a mutual interest in a brand that’s reasonably rare in their part of the world.

Scott H from the club expands as follows:

We are small, but we have a good thing going. We have a Saab master mechanic with 35 years of experience in our ranks, and his shop offers our members special labor and parts rates as well as an occasional place to hang out. We also have one of the founders of ECUproject.com, a website that provides open source tools for Saab ECU programming. Aside from that we have a small and eclectic group of Saab fans, collectors and hoarders.

Proposed activities include attending local car shows with cars ranging from a 1969 96 to a highly tuned 2000 9-3, maintenance days/seminars, we are hoping to begin participating in a Saab-only autocross class. Two of our members are already involved in organized road racing with the Sports Car Club of America, one of whom was the 2006 champion in his class, driving a classic 900. Please take a look at our site and forums at www.neflsaab.com if you get a chance.

It’s a good gathering they’ve got there. Here in Tasmania, we’re also fortunate enough to have a good blend of old and new cars and there’s nothing like some exposure to some of the older Saabs to foster interest and passion for the brand.

I know we’ve got a few readers from Florida amongst our ranks, so please do check out the Northeast Florida Saab Club and get involved.

——

The addition of the Northeast Florida Saab Club to the list of Saab Car Clubs provided me with a good excuse to clean up that links page, too.

It’s now organised geographically (well, by continent, at least) to make it a little easier for viewers to check out what’s in their area.

If you’re a member of a Saab Car Club that isn’t represented there, feel free to drop me a line and have your club added to the list.

Hey everyone! Long time, no post.

This is my backyard! Jacksonville, Florida. I was going to get in on this about a year ago, but the lack of my posting on here is a direct reflection of the amount of time I spend busy working and with family. So, being more ‘involved’ would get me back to bachelorhood, and that would not have been good. Really.

    I’m signing up though!

It’d be nice if the local “GM PREMIUM BRAND DEALERSHIP” (read: ‘the local Saab store’) was a sponsor of the club.

Swade, miss ya mate. Know that, aside from posting, you haven’t lost me. I read here once per week at a minimum, but seldom can comment (because I’m at work!). Love what you’ve done, you’re a bloody amazing bloke. (How’s my Auzzie?)

By the way, please say a prayer for me, if you believe in the sort, as I am a GMAC employee (almost 8 years). Anyone reading the headlines knows how uncertain “things” are right now. There is a saying here in the dirty south that fits… “I’m skerd!” Later!

    Hey Nevitz!

Nice to read your voice again.

And your Aussie was going great until you spelt ‘Aussie’ with a couple of Zs :-)

Have fun with these guys and I do hope things go alright with your corporate overlords.

Wow! Thanks, Swade! What a thrill it is to see our little club get international attention here at Trollhattan Saab. We really appreciate it.

Nevitz, please come check us out. We promise not to end your marriage. Most of us are in the same boat as you.
