When I was in the market a few months ago, I discovered that many of the salespeople from Saab Sherman Oaks had moved up the street to their sister Subaru shop. Which is in a really cool space that used to be the Hummer dealership, before GM bought them all back from them.

Subaru has been running full color dual page ads with very attractive pricing in the LA Times and Daily News, so I'm betting they are getting nice traffic. I came close to getting a Legacy, it's a good little car.

It's sad to think that this economy might drag Saab down with it, since it was sickly in the first place.

My local Saab dealer told me that business has been dead in the service dept for the last few months, with people literally driving out with dodgy tires because they couldn't afford to get them fixed. Anyhow, they say that conditions now are improving, which is a surprise, but I've noticed that the free car they used to give for servicing has been cut back to 1 day (you have to pay for other days) and the cost of a service is up by nearly 100 bucks. I don't begrudge them making a bit of money, but it still feels painful.

Hopefully they will pull through. Saying that, I still think Saab needs to get the dashboard improved (seats are fine). It looks too much like the Impala I'm renting.

In the UK, the Saab Approved Used Car Scheme also p[erforms well having taken the title of Auto Express’s 2007 Used Car Scheme of the Year. Interestingly Vauxhall (Opel/GM)'s used scheme Network Q also perfoms well.
