I’ve featured this car once already. A few months ago, a guy named Pelle in Sweden got in touch to tell me he’d just photographed a wedding and this beautiful orange Saab Sonett III was the featured mode of transport for the happy couple after the nuptials were celebrated.
Pelle had a bunch of photos to pass on to me. 168MB of them, to be exact!! I threw a few of them up on the site and gave Pelle my address so that he could send me a CD.
I’ve just reviewed the CD and all I can say is WOW!
If you’re a fan of Saab Sonetts, then you’ll want to spend a bit of time going through these. I have a dream of importing a Sonett to Australia some time in the next few years. The Sonett I’ll be able to afford won’t be anything like this, but this is a great example to aspire to.
There’s around 30 pictures here. Please only enlarge them if you’re really interested as this is going to kill my bandwidth allowance, but this car just has to be seen.
Thanks to Pelle for sending them on.

As mentioned, the car was being used for a wedding and here it is playing it’s role just beautifully.
And here’s the detail shots. Click the ones you’d like to see in order to enlarge.

In one Saab meeting, here in Spain a good friend and member of the Saab club of Spain let me drive its Sonett III, restored by the another member, the same I bought its 900 convertible.
That car looks awesome.

greetings
Swade, to save your band width put them on your flickr page, just a thought.
That Sonett rocks !!!!
That car looks great! Nice job!
Hmm That doorswitch in the 8:th picture sure does familiar to the ones in my -97 900.. =)
Right now I think “yellow thunder” is the best sonett out there. It’s got great looks, bigger brakes, widened minilites, and it’s ~150hp tuned V4 makes it a real screamer.

But this one is also way up there, if he lost the lame 5 MPH bumpers it’d perfect just because of it’s color alone.
All Sonetts, orange, green & yellow are marvelous.
Congrats to the owners, keeping them in such a good condition.
(About 6 years ago I was tempted by a similar Sonett III in orange, but the interior had to be done completely from scratch, not to mention the panelwork that had missed a lot of TLC in the past, the mechanics & the suspension and lots of other things needing to be sorted out etc. . Not being able to foresee all costs, I kept my wallet wisely closed.
So I took later a relative troublefree 900 convertible instead, with the advantage of seating 2 more people under an open sky and having more power under the bonnet. As I have two ‘left hands’ I’m not regretting my choice, but those picts make me dream again…).
I wish saab had something of that kind nowadays in production.
9X in bold colours !
Here some pristine Sonetts that attented at the 2008 interclassics in Maastricht (NL) earlier this year:

Maybe these Belgian & Dutch owners turn up with their cars at the next IntSaab.
I must mark that weekend in my agenda.
Every time Sonett III’s come up on Ebay, they have four flat tires, no engine, a decimated interior, and more rust than metal in the floorpan…and I still want them.
