After covering it in another article earlier today, I’ve now received fuller details of the 2009 Saab 9-3 Hirsch model for the German market.
This car gets the full Hirsch treatment and reads like a very desireable model that Saab should be marketing everywhere.
To the enhancements, first:
The base car for the Hirsch Performance model is the 2009 Saab 9-3 with 2.8 V6, XWD (with E-LSD) plus the following Hirsch Performance components:
- Upgrade to 300hp
- Mesh grille
- Front splitter
- Stainless steel dual exhaust
- Rear diffuser
- Bootlid spoiler or roof spoiler (bridge spoiler)
- Lowered Suspension
- 345mm Brake
- 19” wheels (diamond black or satin silver)
- Carbon leather dash board
- Carbon leather interior trim set
- Leather door handles, handbrake handle and smart slot cover
- Aluminium pedals
And here’s an outside picture to get you drooling.
——
Hirsch vehicles are not just about the numbers, which are definitely impressive in this instance. They’re about the seamless integration of factory quality parts to create a truly aggressive yet very driveable vehicle. It’s long been an issue on this website that Hirsch isn’t promoted in all Saab markets and this vehicle is further proof that Hirsch are capable of presenting one heck of a great automobile.
I’d urge anyone who hasn’t done so to seek some seat time in a Hirsched Saab. It really is an experience to remember.
To those of you fortunate enough to have access to Hirsch products, I hope you avail yourselves of this opportunity. Some of the aftermarket products out there are pretty good, but I’m yet to drive another vehicle that was as complete a package as Jeff B’s Saab 9-5 Hirsch.

Hmm sounds like an interesting replacement for my 9-5 Aero Hirsch. I can’t find anything about it here in Germany though! When is it going to be officially announced?

What the hell?! That would sell like crazy here in the states. The HP is what all the Audi/BMW people I know are complaining about and the grill and leather would fix my only complaints (especially the brake and door handles). What is that going for?

This should be the Aero in all markets. HP to match BMW and Audi. Not to mention the Hirsch dashes are awesome - an area where my 2008 Aero could use a boost.

Add to the “this is that the Aero SHOULD be” chorus, this is the kind of reasonably fast, not too flashy Saab that you should be able to buy from every dealership as a factory model. There’s nothing on this car that shouldn’t be available on a $40k Saab.

If only the US market had these Hirsch options.I agree with 2-don. All the b**ch about is the hp.

what is a front splitter and a rear diffuser?

Spazzz2002: I believe the front splitter is the air dam under the front bumper and the rear diffuser is below the bumper at the rear of the car. The rear diffuser on a racing car is functional and provides downdraft (to keep the rear drive wheels on the road, keeping the car from lifting at speed), but I’m guessing that the rear diffuser on this car is simply for looks and is not really functional. They’re both aerodynamic elements found on racing cars.

Better than a stock Turbo X in my opinion.

definitely something for all markets, but especially for the us - here in germany it’s almost dangerous to boost cars up to 300HP in these days - our newly rich czech mates across the board would love it [I saw 3 TX in Prague already] - but these cars need to increase sales on the biggest market of all.
