According to JAJ, looking at saab as one global unit, europe was doing a profit but they were losing money in the US due to the poor US$ exchange rate. He also said that this was something that they would adjust with the 9-4 being built in mexico.

Notably, even thou it was a loss, its been reduced from SEK3.8B in 2005, to 2.9B in 06 to SEK2.2B in 2007 (appr USD 400M) so it is going in the right direction.

In sweden the discussion is more about volvo do not by far have as lean production as saab and is facing some more difficult problems.

a rather positive article in the business magasine dagens industri today http://di.se/

in which JAJ also says that if you can make money on a 11 year old 9-5 it would be possible to make even more with a new one...

The update makes a lot of sense.
I don't see how Saab's profit/loss figures can be calculated separately from the rest of GM. This will go double in the next few years when two new Saab models will be built in Germany and Mexico, and Trollhattan will be building Opels alongside the 9-3.
