Isuzu Asia had a run of Panther SUV’s in matte colors metallic red, electric blue, gold, grey and black. I have to admit the first time I saw it I thought it was a defective clear coat. Looked great but harder to keep looking nice than gloss black. The areas that got burnished by the winds looked more glossy after a few months.

Well, at least the colour matches the unpainted door handles and the bumper strips. Maybe that’s where he got the inclination.
A lot of enthusiasts are thinking about painting the bumper strips and the door handles to match there duco. In a twisted way I can understand what he has done in reverse.
He’s definitely a creative thinker. WOW! You got to love a Saab owner!

I really don’t think it works on this car. It works on hot rods and old Chevelles. Not Saabs.

Agree with you there. The pre-facelift 9-3s are too rounded to pull off the matte black look. Got to have a lot of angles to make it look good IMHO – like the Brabus Bullit black arrow, that’s one evil looking car in matte black. The Turbo X would really suit a matte black finish, that or Monte Carlo yellow…

If he took that stuff off to reduce weight, he probably did more damage in aerodynamics than he gained from the lighter weight. Seriously that stuff ways maybe two pounds.
