Trollhattan Saab has changed!
The site you're viewing now is the original Trollhattan Saab weblog, though it's now an archive only and no new material is posted here. As of February 2009, all new material is posted at our new site - Saabs United.
Please join us at Saabs United and get your daily Saab fix from Saab sources all around the world.
If you’re viewing this entry at a www.trollhattansaab.net URL then you’re probably using Firefox, Safari or Opera as your browser. If you normally use Internet Explorer then it’s a good chance you can’t even see this entry on site and are viewing it through an RSS reader.
When I loaded the new template, I also loaded a plugin called SuperCache, which was supposed to make the site load faster. It seems that all it’s done is screw things up for people using what is still the world’s most populous browser.
I deactivated the plugin some days ago as I didn’t like what I saw. I removed it from the server completely, but it seems that it’s having some residual effects. I’ve sent off a request to get some coding assistance so hopefully we’ll have the problem sorted in relatively short order. Given that it’s the weekend, though, it might still be a few days.
I’ve also ordered one or two other tweaks to the code here that’ll hopefully smooth out the transition to the new theme for some of the people who are having trouble adjusting. More on that when it gets done.
I apologise for the inconvenience. If I could sue the plugin writers, I probably wouldn’t, but I’d stamp my feet a lot.
UPDATE: I’ve personally tried it on Firefox 3, Firefox 2, Safari 3.1.2 as well as Internet Explorer 7 and I can see all entries. Please try clearing your cache and forcing a refresh if you’re having trouble on one particular browser.

I’m actually having the problem with Safari on my Mac…using MacOS 10.5.3 with Safari version 3.1.2, it shows a version of the site from the day the new one was launched. I open the site with Camino or Firefox and it works a treat..weird. Love the new layout btw

I’m on Avant, which is based on IE, and I haven’t had any problems.

Hey Andy, we are not seeing it properly over here on the west side using IE. Time Warner is my ISP in Brunswick, so perhaps it is a DNS issue? I was actually in Mentor tonight having dinner at Davitinos with family. Delicious!
Firefox (obviously) is working fine.

I am trying with XP through Parallels Desktop on a Macbook Pro. IE6 still shows the “SaabUSA sues over engine sludge” post with 0 comments. I cleared the cache but I never even used this browser to look at your site. Something still isn’t right…

If you can believe it I’m using Safari 1.3.2 and OS 10.3.9. I was having the same problem as Damo G – seeing the old site if I went ‘back’ to the trollhattansaab.net homepage.
Clearing my cache did the trick though and now it all works fine.

Last night I also had the same problem as Damo G but after clearing cache it did not resolve.
Today is a different story and everything is looking fine.
BTW Damo: Update your MAC, 10.5.4 is the latest version and there was a Safari update at that point too, see if resolves the issue for you.

I get the feeling that people’s internet services are updating as time progresses and that things are going to be alright.
It’s good to hear that things are starting to work out.

About this new site. The latest post for example. I see a beautiful little picture of white whaletail 900. When I click the story, it’s gone. Only black ones. That’s it.
Saab is “what you see is what you get”, this new system is not.
Also, if I’m searching some cool picture that I have seen here some month before, I won’t find it since I have to click every story to find it.
Sorry that I’m such a crychild

I just loaded the page in IE, main page is still showing 17th July.
I’ve made this comment using Firefox. working OK
Running Windows XP
IE really does seem to have trouble with this..
Is there not a HTML script you can add to your header Swade?
What sort of script were you referring to? – SW

The site works for me on one Mac in FF+Saf and not on my other Mac in FF+Saf. One is a G5, the other a G4, and both are running the same version of OS X. weirdo strango.

Wow. Jeff K. This gets wierder all the time.
I’ve checked it at the office on IE6 – fine. At home on Safari – fine. At home on FF3 – fine. At home on FF2 – fine. At home on IE7 – fine.
I’ve asked a code guy to take a look at it this week at see if there’s something inherent in the template that’s a problem, but I’ve got a feeling there’s some sort of caching issue with people’s ISPs and that it’ll clear itself out in time. Please clear out your caches and temporary internet files as a way of aiding the process.
As mentioned, I do have a guy who I’ll get to look at it this week.

Just my 2 cents — tried it at home all weekend using IE 7 and was stuck way back on the “Engine Sludge” day. The featured story was the new site layout and there were 19 comments…perpetually. I tried this morning before I came in to the office with the sme result.
It’s 8 am here in Washington DC, and I just loaded the page on IE 7 here at work. No problems whatsoever!

Monday morning on main work pc:
FF3 and Safari are fine, IE7 still stuck on the oil sludge thread, even after clearing out cache and all other settings/cookies.
Tried on another laptop. Both FF2 and IE6 stuck on the oil sludge thread.
Tried on a Windows 2003 server running IE7 – stuck on oil sludge thread.

I was going to email Sawde about this. On my macs, my G4 has no problems. On my new laptop, it will only show the website from the day you put the redesign up. I cleared the cache and refreshed, quit, restarted, tryied firefox and it still shows the old page with the Saab/Sludge story and 0 comments.
Everything is fine on my trusty old G4 though.

Thanks everyone. It’s a truly perplexing problem. I’ve just changed the date on the sludge entry to June 16 but Wulf tells me his machines are still seing it as July 17 and as the latest entry.
I’m going to get a code guy to look at these comments to note the various things that are happening, so please continue logging what’s going on.

Howdy Steve,
Nice looking new site.
Unfortunately,I too have major issues. This is showing as the latest entry to me,I thought you had gone on holidays for a week.
Doesn’t matter if i use IE or FF,cleaned out cache and Temp files to no avail.
Oh well,Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Happy Fudgeing.

I’m another one stuck on the Sludge with no comments. I thought the site had died which appeared unlikely so i’ve had a look on my wifes schoolwork computer which is 3 feet away from mine and shares the same internet connection through a router and it’s all up and running. I’ve cleared the cache, temp internet files etc. but to no avail. The only difference between the 2 computers is this one i can see the site updates on runs Vista and mine runs XP. Both on I.E 7
