I was pulling for Cadel...quite upset he didn't get the TDF win.
Was it his legs or team that let him down?

At least its not as bad as VW (which knocked it down to ears). I suspect they did it because dealers make quite a bit of money on selling long term warranties, and this could be one way for them to raise prices without making it look as if they are. Think about it, the dealers aren't making that much money on selling the car, they don't make any money on servicing it for the first three years, so if GM let's them sell a six year warranty for 1400 bucks that's a good deal of profit (at least 700-900 bucks if the car's reliable).

The reduction in warranty coverage is a huge mistake. Real or imagined, there are perceived quality problems among the general public as it relates to Saab...the expanded warranty was one of the main reasons I elected to buy the 2007 Anniversary Edition. 10,000 miles into it and I've already had it in once to fix display problems on the dashboard. Could be much worse, I know...but that long-term warranty always provided piece of mind. This could cost a few more buyers, and Saab isn't in the position to lose many more.

Gregg, that'd work, actually. We leave about a week later. Can I park myself in the forward pocket and have a kick? :-)

No activites are planned as yet. It all seemed a little too hard when I mentioned it a few months ago. Now that the trip is closer, we might get something worked out.

Swade: Weren't you going to visit Canada sometime in the next few months? And didn't you mention something about a meet-up with local Saab owners, possibly in Seattle (a true hotspot for the marque)? If it fits your schedule, there is a local footy tournament on Saturday, 13 September in Seattle-- 4 teams, round-robin, and 7 hours of this blessed sport. Mind you, these teams are comprised are expats, weekend warriors, and ex-rugby players who would likely get bested by any Victoria Youth Girls Competition squad, but here in the States, we'll take what we can get. Will you be here in North America at that time?

That's a new zulunder argument, Brendan. It's still our boys on the park. Soccer teams have coaches from everywhere nowadays and no-one worries about it.

I wonder if your old EMS sold?

On the rugby - one problem with the win is that no matter which team won on the night New Zealand won. For those who aren't in the know they imported a New Zealander to coach the Aussies.

That employee pricing offer sounds nice... if you can take advantage of it in time.

I'm going to be traveling this coming week but was tempted to take advantage of the offer this past weekend. However, the dealers with whom I spoke on the phone were in no hurry to get me pricing info. The lack of responsiveness was a disappointing. I couldn't help but think back to all of the comments I hear on this blog and other Saab enthusiast sites about how hard Saab dealers sometimes make it to buy from them.

Yeah, I'm getting concerned too! The warranty was why I was considering a new one!
