Inside a GM paint shop - painting a car
Whilst I had a pretty extraordinary and almost all-access tour of the Saab factory in Trollhattan last year, the one area I didn’t get to see was the paint shop. Naturally, this is an extremely delicate area and the fewer disturbances in that part of the factory the better.
GM Next has put together a short video showing the paint process in a Corvette plant. It ain’t Saab, but for those with an interest in how cars are built (and it is a fascinating process), hopefully this will provide a little more insight.

i am not sure what they do at the saab factory but i know many including me on saabcentral have reported many paint defects. but hey i look over that knowing i got the car at a steal.
mo: Can’t be as bad as they used to be. I’ve bought 2 new Saabs, a 69 99, and a 73 99. On both cars, the first time I spray washed each, the paint came off in big sheets.
Interesting stuff. its definately more than just dipping the car in a basing full of paint…
