Glad Midsommar och skal!

It’s midsommar festival time in Sweden and it’s beer and schnapps, potatoes, herring and maypoles for everyone!

For those who are new to it (like me), Here’s a few introductory notes from the Swedes themselves.

Midsummer is a national holiday in Sweden and is celebrated on the weekend nearest June 24. In 2008 Midsummer Day falls on Saturday June 21, but the festivities start the day before, on Midsummer Eve. Swedes celebrate Midsummer with equal gusto to Americans partying on the Fourth of July. Families and friends gather and are especially fond of doing so in their summer cottages located around lakes and along the shore. Every Swedish town, city and province celebrates Midsummer – the longest day of the year.

My guess is that midsommar celebrations around Trollhattan itself will be particularly cheerful this year given the 9-3 production news we’ve seen in the last 24 hours.

I’m sure there’ll be scenes like this all over Sweden this weekend :-)

Skal!

Great fun, but somehow not the refinement you associate with Saab. Let’s hope the workers in the Trollhattan plant have a day off, the morning after.

Deras swedish friends : have fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, fortunately, this is the time of year when the plant is typically retooling for the new model year that will begin production in the fall, so I don’t think that you’ll have too many cars affected by Midsommar.

I love that video. When I first saw it last year or the year before I was glad that they had Volvos in the commercial, not Saabs!!

The same to you Marko.. Sharpened your knife and had your share of Kosken for the traditional finnish knifefights? HAHA! Just kiddin. Glad midsommar granne! Soumi Rocks!
      Glad midsommar all of you.
ps. To Swade.. I haven´t had a cigarette for a week now or snus for that matter. I think I´m about to die sometimes, but when it´s realy bad I go for a quick drive on small twisty roads in my 9-3. That cures the worst abstinence. And the misses also do her bit to get my mind on other things.. hehe ;-) . Hope you have gone through the worst part now and feel that it´s not weighing you down.

Cheers.. Time for the last aquavit of the day. Eh, it´s 1:50 already?
