Welcome, SOARny.com

Last weekend the Saab Owners Association, Rochester, got together and did what Saabnuts the world over do very well - make a car park look attractive and chat about Saabs :-) . Actually, I’m sure there was more that went on but it’s not an uncommon thing. I’ve been to many a meet where everyone’s quite happy to park, chat and peek under the hood.

SOAR

It may look a little small in numbers, but they were big on class. I’ve heard the name Gary Stottler before and I’m pretty sure it’s in connection with vehicles restored for the GM Heritage collection. It’s no surprise, then, that the black Saab 99 Turbo he brought along for the day looks to be in absolute pristine order.

It’s good to see a couple of convertibles getting their topless thing happening, too. Must be starting to warm up there. There’s a gallery of photos from the gathering here.

I’d like to welcome SOAR to the list of Saab clubs in the sidebar. If your Saab club isn’t listed there then please feel free to shoot me an email with your details.

Swade, thanks for the introductory post for our club.

Gary Stottler works for GM as an engineer and does some consultant work for the heritage collection on the side.

His ‘78 99 Turbo is one of three cars in his collection currently which also consists of a ‘77 99 EMS which is undergoing restoration as well as a Model 96 GT850.

I actually met him when I drove down to his house one evening to look at what became my ‘95 9000 CSE.
