Tuesday Snippets
I suspect that right now, Eggs n Grits is somewhere between home and the Turbo X driving event that he’ll be attending tomorrow. I told him to have a heck of a time and try his utmost to break one of them!!
In the nicest possible way, of course.

GOOD NEWS!!!!
It looks like my Viggen is going to be fixed. I haven’t got the final quote in yet, but it seems that it’ll be $14,500 at this point. Once I get a look at it I can check if they’ve covered everything I want them to cover, such as tyres etc. I have a feeling they’re going to repair the stock wheels, too, which I’m unsure about.
The main thing, though, is that it’s coming home to papa. The idea of a Porsche 944 Turbo was getting enticing, but I’d much rather have my Viggen back.

I visited the Saab Arabia website to see if there was news or information there that might include a price for the Saab Turbo X to add to the Turbo X price index.
No such luck. In fact, they’re still showing the 2007 Saab 9-3 in the sedan and go so far back as to still be promoting Lime Yellow convertibles!
And if anyone knows a price in the Middle East for the Turbo X, please feel free to pass it on.

Perhaps the 9-3 going to a smaller platform makes more sense when you see the price of fuel in the US creeping up close to $4.
I remember what seems to be the recent panic when it reached $3 there. It doesn’t feel like that long ago.

Gas will just keep getting more expensive… most of the rest of the world is paying something like 10 bucks a gallon, and somehow they survive. Most of us in the US (not me) will just keep complaining as long as the price rises…. were not used to fuel being a considerable expense.
why is the US version of the TX half as much as it is in Oz?
when are we going to get flex fuel SAABs?
I’m from saudi arabia, and I can answer your question very simple, the dealer in saudi arabia is killing saab, they don’t have a qualified sales for saab I have visited them several time perhaps more than ten time I keep telling them information about saab cars they really don’t know any thing.
if you are living in saudi arabia please ask them to give you the guy responsible for saab orders he might help you, I have his number if you want.
I saw a few ‘08MY 9-3’s while there in Dubai, so the website is definitely out of date.
If I do eventually move out there, methinks a 9-7X and a 9-3 ‘vert will be on the cards
Motasim, is there a job going over there to sell Saab’s, or should there be?
Robin,
let me be honest with you,
I will tell you my story and you decide…
since six months I didn’t visit the dealer, the first time I new a saab was year 2005 when I bout a used 9-3 ss model 2003. the journey of dealing with the dealer began, actually the dealer is a famous GM seller where having two type of showrooms for luxury cars (Cadillac, Hammer & saab started selling 2005) and another showroom for other GM cars.
From that time year 2006 & 2007 I kept visiting them to have a test drive for 9-5 & 9-7x but unfortunately I never met a real qualified salesman for saab each time I visit them I feel I’m a stranger of a heavy customer who bothers them or some time finding my self correcting & telling them about the features of Saab cars they take my contact number to fix a date for me to test, I keep waiting then I keep waiting then I keep waiting then nothing happens no one is calling me, on day I thought of booking test drive for 9-7x from saab Saudi Arabia web site happily I have received a call from GM middle east I think so I’m not sure he has given he spoke with me to ensure that I want to have a test drive and he promised that I will receive a call from Saudi Arabia saab dealer, after a week or so I have received a call from the dealer asking me what saab I wanted to test, as I have informed him 9-7x. the amazing replay I got “ we don’t have any 9-7x in Riyadh please visit our showroom in Dammam ” ( the distance between Riyadh & Dammam is 400 km), what do you expect from me to do?
The only benefit I got from this deal is the spar part are more cheaper that the pervious dealer.
You have to no I never passed to the dealer on 2008 I don’t know if they have did any actions in aiming to sell saab.
I hope I didn’t bother you with my story.
It sounds about as organised as a barrel of monkeys over there, Motasim.
I emailed a Saab Middle East contact a few days ago and finally got a reply just this morning, though the reply didn’t have an answer to the question I asked, but a promise to refer the question to the proper person. I hope they get it.
