The Boston Turbo X Drive - Prelude

First of all, sorry for the lengthy absence. My work schedule has been very demanding of late.

As Swade’s already mentioned, I’ve arrived here in Boston for a test drive of the new Saab Turbo X. Exciting!
.
Our general itinerary is short; just five or six hours driving and listening to the technology gurus talk about the car and its capabilities.

Generally, tomorrow should go something like this:

9:30 -10:00 : Assemble at Herb Chambers Saab here in Boston for a briefing on the cars — there should be more than one variant available to see and drive, yipee!
10:00 - 11:30 : Drive the Turbo X cars to the North Andover, Massachusetts test course. It seems to be an old ATT/Lucent manufacturing center that’s serving a number of different purposes today.
12:30 - 2:30 : Put the Saab Cross Drive system through its paces, and hopefully drive a few of the Saabs from the GM Heritage collection.

I can’t wait!!!

The group is relatively small — only about 10 folks in all will be making the trip to the track for the test. With a group this size, all of us should have a reasonable amount of time in each car.

GM really is a great host thus far. I’ve enjoyed getting to know Jan-Willem Vester on the phone a bit prior to meeting him for the first time this evening at our hotel, which, by the way, is very nice, indeed! I’ve already spoken with Steve Shannon, Saab USA General Manager, too. In less than an hour, I’ve already learned much more about Saab than I expected in the whole trip (more to come on that), so everything tomorrow is a bonus.

One of the other treats is getting to meet some of the other bloggers for the first time. I’m happy to report that Gunnar Heinrich is in fine trim, and I’ve become re-aquainted with Nines Magazine through a brief conversation with Seth Bengelsdorf.

Stay tuned, more to come from Boston!!

It’s Swade here….. :-)

Whilst Eggs is meeting, greeting and eating with Saab executives in Boston, someone at the RenCen back in Detroit is keeping watch on all things Saaby…..

Gunnar is always in fine trim. He’ll be the best dressed man in any room you enter in the next few days.

Did he bring his old pal, 50-cent?

      Enjoy!

I missed you today, you must have been in the group that showed up in North Andover. By then, I was into the cars. Oh well, next time, perhaps!!
