Sunday night snippets
Congratulations to long time visitor, plaid interior decorator, XJS appreciator, bard extraordinaire and general all-round good guy, Andy Rupert, on securing a new job - selling Volvos! Andy went for an interview last week with Leiken Volvo and they liked what they saw, enough to call him this weekend and offer him the job. He didn’t even have to sing for them!
Well done, mate!

It’s going to be a big week this week.
- Saab T-shirt guru, Ivan, recently got a chance to drive both the Turbo X and a TTiD Aero. I’ll be writing up his thoughts shortly.
- Later this week, our own Eggs n Grits will be driving the Turbo X at the North American test drive event in the north east somewhere (I, um, forget where).
- And the biggie….during the week there will be a huge GM Next event in Europe. Dealers from all over Europe will be in attendance. All phones and cameras etc are banned. What’s the bet there’s some future Saabs being shown amongst other things?
——
The Saab 9-5 is the second most heavily-used vehicle in the UK, averaging 14,771 miles per year.
Really.
——
This Saab 96 is noted on Flickr as being deserted.
Someone please find it and keep it company!!

And finally, our Unofficial Saab Ambassador in the UK, Robin M, scored a trip to the Nurburgring last week. He got to sit in on a few hot laps in a friend’s Evo and someone managed to snap off this photo.
I’ve got no idea who’s in the GTR in front, or on the bike, but apparently the BMW in the back has Sabine Schmidt at the wheel

Congrats on the new job Andy.
You mean Sabine Schmitz?
Thanks, friends. I don’t know much about the brand yet. But the showroom models look nice — especially the C30 Turbo I-5. I’m hoping that’ll be one of my first test drives.
I’ve heard the C30 is like the Sonett - It’s your favorite one until you actually drive it.
