Spring coming to the north…. Time to POO?

May 8th, 2008 · 8 Comments

It’s getting lighter and sunnier in the northern hemisphere, as evidenced by the photos that are starting to pop up on Flickr as well as in my inbox.

That’s got me thinking about the POO competition and how there was going to be another one in the northern spring/summer. Which also got me thinking about the proposal for a POO book - ay carumba!!

I think I can manage the competition, but in all honesty, I don’t know if I could manage the book. Work, family and blogging commitments would make the task of getting a quality product prepared pretty strenuous. Without knowing what the market would be like, nor if there’d be any support from Saab, this would be a very tall order. I do love the idea of a grass-roots Pride of Ownership publication, though.

The aforementioned springtime in Sweden shots:

From my inbox…….temperatures are in double-digits. Time to bring out the convertibles!!!!

This one’s a yellow Viggen convertible that was imported from San Diego, back to Sweden. Who’d ever heard of importing a Saab to Sweden!?!?! Photo sent in by Trued, who took the shot from his convertible :-)

Viggen

….and from Flickr, a great 9-5 Wagon shining like a diamond with a blue sky above.

How many Saab planes are there like this in Sweden?

Wow. POO is definitely the wrong acronym for such a nice thing.

Tho I’ll admit SPOO is not much better.

David is right…the Poo Book shouldn’t be called the Poo Book, as it might end up in the children’s section of the book stores.
    ;-)

Looking forward to viewing & reading all of the Saab entries for the competition. If all goes well in the next year, i’ll be contributing, too!

I live in Sweden and I don’t know any Saab owners abroad. So every time I check this site out it makes me all happy inside when I see pictures from far off places of Saabs someone is all passionate about.
Needless to say - I love the idea of a Pride of Ownership publication.

In my family we never had any aother cars than Saabs. My 9-5 Estate is my third Saab of my own and I’ve had it for nearly a year now, and what a year it has been. I don’t think I’ll ever own any other make. If I will - I’ll have a Saab aswell…

Robin if You want to see a Draken flying You should be in the US a handful fly with private owners… They where also exported to Denmark and Austria.
Swedish AirForce Test Unit has a 2 seater Draken that flew on SAABs anniversary in Linköping last year. The plane is decommissioned.
It is not a plane by the way it is a barndoor!

    “Time to POO”

I almost spewed my Sobe Energy drink all over the computer I’m working on.

Doesn’t say much for my maturity level though, does it. :)

Perhaps one day I’ll be able to join the ranks of the POOers… I don’t think my wife’s 9-7x really counts.

I think it would be great to see a 9-7x
