Dutchies call this the next Saab 9-5

Saabforum.nl are all a-buzz with a thread about an article in the latest issue of the Dutch version of AutoWeek. There’s a scan from the latest issue there, claiming some spyshots of the next Saab 9-5.

This one, for me, is the money shot, though it looks much more like a rendering than a photo and apparently has very little to do with a Saab 9-5 as I’ve learned in comments (the hazards of posting late at night from websites in a language you don’t understand!):

Saab 9-5

If you can read Dutch then click on through and fill your head with knowledge. The rest of us will have to make do with looking at the pictures.

Thanks Jeroen

Meanwhile, Australian Car Advice have some revealing shots of that Opel Insignia hatchback that was mentioned the other day.

It looks quite raw and, to be honest, pretty unattractive, but I’m sure it’d improve with a mild makeover in the trim department.

Looks good. However me thinks its just a CDI….

Look at the “line” above the place for the saab logo…. on the left side it stops already after a decimiter or so but on the right hand side it continues…

Also think there will be some LED’s in the front. JAJ have said himself that the big evolution in the next years will be in lights.

I can’t see much mention of the 9-5, and although I can’t read dutch, I think they’re talking about the next 9-3, the CGI at least…

If you click on that photo at Autoweek you’ll see it’s actually the 9-X BioHybrid.

Hopefully the big new Saab will get a proper bonnet like the current 9-5 and the 2008 9-3 has.

Hmmmm…..it has nothing to do with the new 95. They only mentioning the 95 when they will start the production of the new 95 in Rüsselsheim and that it will be build on the platform of the Opel Insignia and be relieved…..this has nothing to do with shown picture. Further they say this will happen in 2009 according this article. At this moment the Opel Vectra and Signum are coming from Rüsselsheim, but in total there will be 6 models build and that is the Vectra, Signum and the new Opel Insignia and according GM the 95…..in the future they also want to build the Chevrolet Epica but others I don’t know. Further in this article the 93 is most mentioned about the release for a complete new 93 model which would be first build on the platform of the Insignia according GM but they want to make the 93 smaller and so GM is now planning to use the platform of the Astra!?!?!?! This is bad news I think……I dont want a smaller 93 and especially not on the platform which is used for the Astra!!! The good news is…..the 93 will be build in Trollhättan and not as previous articles told us that it would be build from 2012 in the Opel Factory in Rüsselsheim. This decision has been drawed back by GM. Other cars that will be build in Trollhättan are the 91, which is build on the same platform of the Astra and the Astra itself will be build there.

If you follow the link to the Dutch forum (rather than Autoweek) & scroll down, you will find a scanned-in magazine article with all kinds of mention of the 9-5 … I don’t speak/read Dutch but I can certainly make out 350 hp V6 turbo & 250 hp V6 diesel in there ….

But weren’t Saab’s engineers the ones who developed the Astra platform so that they could incorporate it into future Saabs much more to their own needs? So why would this be bad?

aaaah…i didn’t know that this platform was engineerd by Saab itself. Anyway…I just dont like the idea that the 93 will be smaller. I allready had small problems with mounting a maxicosi in the back for my youngest daughter because there was not much space left, caused by the frontseat.

Haven’t we already seen that render before through TS? The one of the brown 9-5?
