Are Turbo X wheels coming?
A great sighting here from SaabRobz….
Whilst doing the weekly shopping at the local Trollhattan shopping center (I bought a shirt there for the 60th Anniversary dinner last year
) he spotted this rather unique convertible. I’d say it’s owned by someone who works for Saab, or at least has some good contacts there, which is easier than you think in Trollhattan itself.
Apparently it’s an Aero spec BioPower convertible, and check out the silver-painted Turbo X wheels:

I know there’s some divided opinion on the Turbo X wheels but I reckon they look absolutely brilliant. I’ve been wondering if they’ll be released for general sale and whilst this doesn’t mean that they will, it’s a positive sign. I’ve even considered them for the Viggen, should it be repaired. I’ll be writing to Saab shortly and making the appropriate enquiries.
And what about that silver looking top on the convertible? Is that standard or are they expanding the range once again?

I for one hope they sell them, I want a set of 18″s to replace the klingons on my Aero
looks like it has the turbo x darker grille also.
Gray canvas will be offered for 2009 convertibles.
yeah, looks like a turbo-x front (without lipsspoiler) with silver tx rims
I didn’t notice the grille, if it’s the Turbo X grille then this lends even more credence to my hunch that all of the Turbo X’s body bits will be available for the 2009 Aero.
Look at it this way, GM likes to cost cut, remember that this is the company that facelifted the 9-3 so they could switch to parts-bin doorhandles (among other reasons). Do you really think that GM would have spent the money to develop the tooling for the Turbo-X front spoiler, wheels, rear wing, and exhaust tips for a 2000 unit production run?
Of course they’re going to try to get the most out of their investment, and that will be through selling all of the Turbo X bits on the 2009 Aero’s. Personally I think it’s a great idea, at $43k base the Turbo X isn’t competitive, but if they can include all of it’s bits on the $38-39k Aero XWD, then I think Saab will have a very competitive little package on their hands.
^yeah, i was thinking this too. i remember when here in germany all aeros had the viggen bodykit one year after the viggen launch.
i am pretty sure that there will be the turbo-x bodykit availiable on the aeros in 2009 or the second half of my 09.
According to the Swedish car register is this car of m/y 2009. The VIN code also says so.
The chassis number is 6 so it is a test car. It is registered at SAAB Automobile in Trollhättan as an test car.
