I have a regular job and have to work sometimes, leaving me only a quick lunchtime break to write things like I have a regular job and have to work sometimes. Today is one of those times, hence the lack of material.
In the meantime, here’s a classic Saab love story in pictures. Viggen meets engine, they fall in love and marry right there in the workshop. It’s the follow-up to Richo’s sad Viggen story, which has been covered in detail here a few times.
I’d much rather look at these than pictures of a new Subaru.

In an interesting follow-up to all this (and a tip to young players), the engine was installed last week and is purring like a cat – when it’s running. Richo was uninstalling his BSR upgrade when he accidentally knocked the cable connecting the unit to the car. This caused some of the associated circuitry to fry, meaning another trip to the workshop and part replacement before it’ll run again.
Richo’s luck is due to change very soon.
I like that BSR badge in the air dam. Not so sure about the extra Viggen badge in the grill though. Glad to see it back up and running! Now all we need is another certain blue Viggen in that area of the world up and running also.
Nice looking engine Richo, congratulations. The moons must be in the right position for Vigs at the moment.
I can see a blue oil filter.
Previously Saab had a blue oil filter but they have now changed it for a black one that cleans the oil better.

I would recommend getting hold of a black filter and switch to that.
Speaking of the Subaru, when are we going to hear more about that, Swade? They’re an important competitor to Saab and you can help us size them up.
As a former Viggen owner who now drives an Impreza but still reads this site I’m anxiously looking forward to your repaired Viggen vs new WRX comparison piece.
