Turbo X arrives on SaabUSA site
With thanks to rpg in comments…..
The vast majority of Turbo X’s allocated to the US have now been ordered by dealers, though it’s unclear how many of those ordered are already spoken for in terms of customer ordrs with money down. So despite the initial good news on Turbo X sales, there’s still work to be done.
SaabUSA are now promoting the Turbo X in a big way on their homepage, which is good to see.
There’s all the usual stuff there like photos and spec sheets, though the color section is decidedly small
There’s also some videos available too. One is the somewhat cranked-up video that we’ve seen here before, and the other is a brief Ice Experience video that makes for a good minute or so’s viewing.
It’s good to see the Turbo X promotions starting to roll out in the US. Hopefully they get snapped up quickly.
Check out the SaabUSA Turbo X pages here.

If it’s not been mentioned already the Turbo X is on the English site too…..
Saw the turbo-x at the New York show, very nice. Saab had a good display overall. A “good” amount of traffic around the cars. Especially the vert.
The most powerful SAAB ever? Wouldn’t that phrase still apply to the 9-7x Aero?
Correct, Andy, but you weren’t supposed to notice.
I think it’s Saab’s own way of quietly and subconsciously summing up the 7’s lineage. Great truck, the best in its family, but it’s a GM truck rather than a Saab in the purest sense of the term.
Thought I’d check out Saab Canada’s site and found that they had a tiny link for the TurboX below the main splash page. That pretty much says it all as far as GM Canada’s promotional effort on the TurboX front.
On the positive side, there was a link to a contest to “win” a Saab 9-3. In fact, the prize is a Saab 9-3 leased for a year. But hey, that’s nothing to sneeze at. It’ll be a 2009 Saab 9-3, so it may include XWD and eLSD. However, the options are at the discretion of GM Canada, so you may not have much choice.
Either way…a free Saab to drive for a year would make for a whole lotta brilliant driving!
I don’t know how to embed a link, so here it is.
Ah Richard, that Turbo X blurb has been on Saab Canada’s site since shortly after the car was unveiled in Geneva. That was like half an year ago.
Gotta say, though - the head honcho at Saab Canada is one lucky fella. Because I’m not his boss. Fired doesn’t even begin to describe what I’d do with this incompetent import.
Here we are in April and, what!? Did you think we are going to see some official pricing on the Turbo X? Huh? Is premium leather standard? You better read the comments on this blog if you really want to know.
What a sad, sad picture for Saab in Canada. Truly sad. Bring back Magnus and fire this incompetent joke of a “brand manager” already.
“I think it’s Saab’s own way of quietly and subconsciously summing up the 7’s lineage. Great truck, the best in its family, but it’s a GM truck rather than a Saab in the purest sense of the term.”
Yeah but they’re still bloody selling the 9-7, the link is right next to the pic! So ridiculous it’s not worth any more words.
Check out the interior shot on the US site, I was looking at it and thinking “WTF? why would they move the tach to the right-hand side of the cluster and the turbo gauge to the left. That is, until I realized that they just took the picture of the RHD Turbo X interior and flipped it, badly photoshopping the Saab badge on the steering wheel and the image on the nav screen to fit. They didn’t even bother to flip the gauges, the Turbo needle looks like it’s supposed to move from right to left!
If that isn’t GM’s obsession with cost-cutting at the expense of product image at it’s best, I don’t know what is
Kroum,
I was at the Vancouver Auto Show last night and was told by the guy there that they wont have pricing on the car until its Canada launch in June. I asked about leasing and he couldnt give me any info. I asked him how many cars Canada was getting full knowing it was 125. He didnt know!
He was telling me the car has a twin turbo engine with 300bhp (no I wasnt at the BMW stand when I got those figures!:) ) so I am assuming he was a Saturn salesman who didnt know what the hell he was talking about. Doing a bit of math I figured the leasing cost over 4 years with $3700 down would work out at CA$724 per month which is about $100 a month more than a 335Xi.
They had a 2007 9-3 cabriolet (wt*!!), a 9-3 sedan in yummy snow silver and the Turbo X on display. No 9-5 and no 9-7X. No comment!
I was asking a lot of questions about the Turbo X showing genuine interest and even asked what the chances would be of taking a test drive would be. The answer - you are gonna love this - “as the car isn’t being released until June you will have to contact your local dealer.” Dealers name? Telehphone number? Nope!
Hate to say this that I am 95pc sure I am NOT going to buy a Saab now and just for the above reason ie a complete lack of interest on the dealers part. I have my eye on the BMW 128i or the 328i coupe that the BMW dealer gave me an indepth talk about. We even went thru specs for both models as I would want them configured and this morning he emailed me leasing costs per my specs. Thats service and thats why BMW sell so many cars!
Zip, exact same experience here. The folks from BMW call me every other week, offering to bring a 335xi coupe to my office (!), so I can do another test drive during lunch break. Or pick me up from home on a weekend. Whatever is more convenient for me.
This really gives you the feeling your business is wanted and appreciated. Unlike the clueless people over at Saab Canada.
The one good thing is, we may end up talking on BMW boards and blogs a few months from now.
Yup, and it’s not like we didn’t want the car! We just could not get anything on it! Saab Canada didn’t want us to want the car.
Ye all know where fish goes bad first. Time for new management at Saab Canada.
A great brand run to the ground by incompetent management. So sad.
Zippy/Kroum: It is sad that Saab no longer has taken the interest of providing its customer with the premium feel. It has been my experience with Saab that they have been cutting the expected comfort that USED to come standard when you were a Saab owner. As I have posted prior, my old Saab dealer is now a BMW dealer. The service is A-1 and they too, keep calling me for a test drive. The same Saab Staff was retained, they were just retrained at BMW. and you should see the new glass state of the art showroom that will open this month. BMW is just a far superior company to GM. Yes, they charge you for it, but they go out of their way for the customer. My old sales man is very happy blowing out BMW’s at a rate of 5 to1 respective to his Saab sales.
Now with the 1-series, Saab will have more to worry about. I think BMW is going after the Saab customer. It is sad because like you guy’s, I like my Saab, but the when the customer service starts to slide, it’s not good.
That 1-series may be a hurdle for Saab but it effectively kills the Mini Cooper S.
I think the 1-series and the Mini Cooper appeal to a different group of people, so I can actually see enough room on the market for both cars.
