Orders are being taken now. A class of 30 for Australia and NZ isn’t too bad, really, given the limited nature of the model.
I know of two people who are keen and another two who I’m sure will be interested.
If they’re being delivered in June then there must be a local drive event coming up soon. Must try and book myself a spot on that one…….

Swade, you should order/lease one…sell the 900 and take the money from the viggen.
Unfortunately, Brian, I don’t have the funds for that. With the depreciation these will take (just for being a Saab) the lease costs will be huge. Far too big for me, anyway. My wife would have a coronary.
Aye carumba! Cars are expensive in Australia. The SportCombi is US$ 87,000!
What’s the reason that the Australian version costs 2x the US version?
1. That’s the market. They can charge that, too, as a BMW is quite a bit more. Still seems steep, though.
2. Increased transport costs.
3. The luxury car tax adds around $9,000 to a $100,000 car so I guess there’s around $8,000 worth of LCT on the Turbo X.
Two times the cost when our currencies are within around 5% of one another. Go figure.
BTW: Premium leather IS $4000 optional and the 19″s are $2250.
so 100k when you’ve added the good things….. let someone else spend it. It will be 40k in 3 years, then 20k 2 years after that. the Viggen (100k new) was exactly the same, you can’t give them away now. The BMW 328 however still sells for 30-45k mark, depending on kms for the same year model at the same price. go figure!
ps. these avatars are really annoying and ugly
Richo, I’m sure you can bring your design skills to bear on the avatars ; )
Makes Canadian prices look like bargains, which they are not. Somehow we get Australian cars (as some Pontiac models) at “normal” North American prices. Sounds like hidden taxes, not-so-hidden taxes, and very high profit margins.
C’mon Richo. Love the avatar. Actually, I can see you showing up with a BMW avatar soon.
Did someone say BMW?
all 30 have been sold and the demand is coming from “non” saab owners, demand is so high that dealers are calling people that have ordered them and asking if they still want them.. cause the cue is forming out the door of the dealerships.
Cars are quite expensive in Australia, but they’re also very cheap in the US. A Turbo-X in Sweden costs around US $70.000
I just looked it up and $91,500 AUS is about $85,700 USD. Absolutlely unbelievable. That is double what it sells for in the US. It has got to be all those value added taxes plus luxury taxes, etc. I though our taxes were bad, but it is obvious I don’t want to move. What kind of programs are the taxes paying for there? It is figured that through variouse hidden taxes, the average US consumer shells out about 45% in taxes (and he doesn’t even know it). I wonder what it is there.
