what color is the new 9-5…..the one they have been promising for years and years and years….
That Glass Gray looks nice. I want Arctic White on the 9-3SS!
max, the topic is 2009 model news only ; )
Well well, what a surprise, no polar white for the Aero models…..
why now arctic white for the 9-3 sedan
why why why?????????
All I want is a Polar white Convertible 9-3 Aero with a black top and fully loaded.
and im denied. that makes me mad.
Carbon fiber trim on the XWD Aero? What’s next, the Turbo X rims and exhausts?
“The Aero XWD Saab 9-3 will get carbon FIBRE trim on the interior.”
So the trim is also good for your body ? [wink]
I saw my fifth 9-7x ever yesterday, Lingonberry Red (if that’s what they’ve been calling it up until now). I also saw my very first 08 9-3 on I-70 a few days ago, it was some sort of silver.
@ Rogan, like I said before, I’m sure that everything “special” about the Turbo-X short of the turbo needle and the startup message will be available on the Aero XWD as part of a “sport” package or something like that.
And I like it, it makes financial sense from Saab to get the most returns from the cost of developing the specific bits for the Turbo X, and frankly I’m salivating at the idea of a 9-3 with the Turbo X package and wheels in a color other than black.
Seems hardly worth the trouble. The 9-7x and the current 9-5 are on death row aren’t they?
News of their farewell editions would be more interesting.
Yeah, that would seem like a bit of a rip off to all of Turbo X customers who thought they were getting something that was limited and exclusive, but good for me when I start hunting for another used Saab in 4 or 5 years.
Personally, I hope that no other Turbo X equipment trickles down, but what happens will happen, right?
I’m sorry to see that Fusion Blue Metallic is going away for the ‘09 9-3 - that was the color I was lusting after…
The color palette seems to be going more and more bland. C’mon GM, risk it some! Paint options can’t be THAT expensive on the budget - look at Saab’s past color history!
P.S. - you CAN skip the pink, though!
I don’t know about you, but on my monitor the “Carbon Gray” looks like green. How can that replace Titan Gray (which is great!) on the 9-5 ?
Same here, ctm. Not as appealing, that’s for sure. Titan Gray is a great color.
I cant believe they havent put the Arctic White on the Saloons or Wagons ???
I like that Bright Champagne convertible. But then I like a lot of things that I can’t afford.
I just got happier when I saw the carbon interior note. When I drove both the Turbo X and the Aero XWD, the Aluminium panels in the Aero was just soo tacky compared with the Carbon finish in the Turbo X. I might be one of the reasons about this “addon” *sorry about that*.
I’ve been talking to SAAB alot lately, and this subject have come up on all occasions. And I’ve also been helping some people writing the SAAB-i newsletter. So the panel issue have been ventilated. But i really fancy that addon. But i really hope that the Turbo X steering wheel also will be avaible as an accessory. I really liked it.
Hmm, I have an ‘08 9-3 in smoke beige… might be somewhat rare in the U.S. to have that color with the current exterior body style? I wonder how many of those exist.
I’m also willing to bet that the Turbo X steering wheel is also the 2009 9-3 Aero XWD steering wheel.
And to those Turbo X buyers who thought they were getting something truly unique, a latter-day Viggen, you should have seen this coming the moment it was revealed that the Turbo X and the 9-3 Aero XWD would have the same power numbers.
They really need more interesting colors though, I’d like to see a bright green, MCY available across all models, a return of the Viggen blue color, and some sort of metallic orange/bronze. Saabs need to stick out from the crowd in a good way, and fun colors are a cheap way to do that.
So does anyone with photoshop skills feel like PS-ing up an 08 Aero in Monte Carlo yellow, Viggen blue, ng9-3 convertible green, and that bronze/orange metallic color that the Range Rover Sport and LR2 come in.
I would like to see a darker gray (pewter),why doesn’t any automaker use orange over red.red i think should only be used for sports cars.
Silver is everywhere and overrated, will never buy a silver or white car.
use some new colors no need to stay with the boring ones.coffee brown is ok or darker sand like clay red dirt.
I am ordering a 2009 Aero SC. I spoke with Saab customer service today and was advised that XWD would be standard on the 09 Aero, something I had not heard before. I also received the following information via email;
