Just a little site housekeeping…….

I’ve just enabled Gravatars here at TS. What’s a gravatar, I hear some of you ask? It’s a fun little way of brightening up the comments section of the website.

How it works:

Go to gravatar.com and create your gravatar. It’s a very simple registration process and it only takes a minute or two. The gravatars to be shown here are restricted to ‘G’ and ‘PG’ ratings. Let’s keep it clean, people.

When you register and create your gravatar, be sure to use the same email address you use when you leave a comment. The software will look up your gravatar based on your email address and slot it in.

You can see a few examples in the image attached. By default, everyone’s got an Aero-X/UrSaab gravatar until they register one of their own at gravatar.com. Your gravatar should also show up at other Gravatar-enabled sites.

When you’re done, why not come back, leave a comment and see if it’s worked OK!!!

    I love the AeroX/UrSaab image, of which I have a poster. Also have the beautiful model cars of both, purchased from Elkparts, but this is the image I chose…hopefully.

    Is it really “free”? I am always hesitant when having to supply my email address to a site I don’t know offering things for “free”.

    Their privacy policy states the following so I guess there is no need to worry about getting on mailing lists. But still, I never trust “free”. :)

    Gravatar.com collects your email address as part of the gravatar service. We will never rent, sell, or otherwise distribute or make public your email address. We hate spam as much as you do.

    Wulf, Gravatar.com is run by automattic, the people behind wordpress itself, so they’re pretty credible. They’d have a lot to lose by breaking that policy.

    I use adblock in my browser. All I see is “No Gravatar” under each commenter’s name. Maybe because advage.com is blocked? Anyhow for me it
    looks terrible.

    Dan, why would you say my domain name is blocked, or has anything to do with it? From the screenshot you’ve attached, you are not displaying Gravatars for anyone.

    Sorry it’s not just advage.com — it’s all the gravator images are blocked for me and all I see is “No Gravatar”. Weird.

    We did an upgrade on the site overnight but it seems to have overwritten the gravatar plugin. I’ll re-load it tonight.

    JWLanky, yours worked OK and will show up when I reinstall the plugin.
