Adam V has taken delivery of what is 99.9% likely to be the first US spec Saab Turbo X. Adam picked up the Turbo X at ANA in Trollhattan yesterday.
So how does one pick up a US spec Turbo X in Trollhattan when the Euro Delivery Program is still suspended?
The answer is in the photo, below…..
Adam is with the US military and is stationed in Germany. He ordered the Turbo X a few weeks before it’s debut at Frankfurt - sight unseen!! It’s Turbo X #0747 (jets, indeed!) and I’ve got a mix of info and images from both Adam and Frank R from Saab Military Sales (that’s his Aero on the left, above)
——
From Frank:
Here is my friend Adam´s Turbo-X (referring to the photo above) picked up yesterday at ANA. He has taken pics form the Swedish adventure and will send them to you asap. He just came back from a 1200km drive from Sweden to Bavaria in Germany)
I just test drove the car with him. it sounds extremely good….
On sunday we will be at the famous race track Nürburgring…
And from Adam:
The long drive back to Germany was smooth, the Turbo X had no problem going 270kmh, a little over 160mph, while passing BMW, Audi and Mercedes with ease and control.

And some driving impressions, from Frank:
We only had an hour because Adam was tired from his 1200km drive back from Sweden.
First thing is the car sounds extremely good. It is a lot louder in the inside than my 08 Aero. From the outside the car has a very aggressive sound. i could hear a little m3 sound…
The whole impression is that when you sit inside and start the engine you ll notice immediately that this is a sports car.
Every car comes with a carbon keychain.
The exhaust is not chrome but titanium.
Too bad it is raining here right now, so we could not really test the car, but like I said Adam and I will be at the Nürburgring racetrack on Sunday…I am pretty sure that we will make a little video…
The upgraded leather feels really good and looks a lot better than the standard.
The best thing I noticed immediately is the aggressive sound.
As far as i know from Saab, Adam is the first North American with a Turbo-X.

Well I’ll give it up to a guy serving duty to his country. I’m glad he got it first.

Just a quick question… Why is European Delivery on hold for now?

Ah NO… If this one is really the US spec, then it is almost confirmed that I am really seeing the orange front corners in the 2nd pic (though in the 4th pic it sort of appears like it’s just the bulb inside). I’d hate to spend extra money and effort just to get rid of those orange corners… = ( Any idea if this is really the final default for the ones coming here to US?

The pictures outside of the factory and at the filling station really show how different the titanium accent pieces are as compared to the Aero trim. The titanium color reminds me of black pearl grille Saab once sold for the NG9-3 and 9-5. Congrats, Adam!!!

Check out the sportcombi next to Adam’s Turbo X in the garage at ANA - the roof rails are finished in matt chrome. I haven’t seen those here in the US. Based on the visible bit of front right wheel, I’m guessing it’s a XWD Aero, as those are the wheels the are to come with.

Probably, yes. Cad BLS has chrome roof rail. Maybe they can be fitted to 9-3SC?

Somebody may have posted this one already, buts its just dropped through on my email so here it is.

V Positive about everything, just bemoans the fact that he couldn’t do 4 wheel drifts, which tbh you’d struggle to do in an RS4 with 120 more bhp & is the nature of any modern 4×4 system these days anyway esp with an LSD.

Thanks for the link, Loki. The Viggen had too little control, the Turbo X has too much of it… Must be only BMWs that are perfect.
