We saw pictures of the Saab 9-4x a few days ago on Autoblog, and today it’s the Cadillac BRX’s turn over at Jalopnik.
These two are siblings on the same platform and will be built in the same factory in Mexico.
Interestingly, it seems that the Cadillac will see the light of day first, if the guys at Priddy are to be believed. They have the BRX commencing production in May 2009 with the Saab 9-4x starting probably some time around August.
It ain’t that much of a difference, but a difference it is.
The Saab Future Model Timeline will be updated accordingly.

Well.. I´m not surprised if the Caddy gets to go first. And the Caddy will have 40, or more, times the marketing budget than that of the 9-4X in the US. Here´s to hoping that it´s the other way around in Europe.
The BRX is believed to get a version of the 3.6L V6 now in the CTS (and several other GM models). That may not be nearly as attractive in Europe and everywhere else as the 9-4X’s powerful 2.0T plus its diesel variant.
I doubt anyone under 50 would care much for the BRX. The 9-4X is competing for the same customers as the X3, XC60, M-B’s new compact GLK, LR2 and Audi’s upcoming Q5.
The way Gm operates Caddy vs. Saab I’m surprised that Caddy didn’t get the 9-3 before Saab did……
We knew this would happen. As long as they don’t look alike all will be well.
I’m just glad they seem to have different greenhouses and such. Won’t be just copies of each other with different grill/headlight.
Though I wish it was more like May 2008 for Caddy and January 2009 for Saab, if the Caddy must be released first.
At least they’ll have a few months to get some bugs out before making the Saab!
