Beware the few days AFTER the track day accident
We all saw Daniel’s track day accident and commiserated with him after the loss brakes led him into a tyre wall.
That would have been hell-ish enough for one week.
Psycho Dave’s been keeping an eye on the story, and it hasn’t stopped there. In case you haven’t seen it in comments….
Daniel has crashed one more time…..when he was going to his parents to get the Saab and drive it to the body shop he had a crash in his brothers car. When overtaking a Volvo V70 the driver of the Volvo thought that it was a good idea to overtake the car in front and pulled out and pushed Daniel in to the middle barrier. For some people the bad luck never stops…
Daniel - what can I say? Very sad to see this happen.
If there’s one reason why I occasionally have a dig at Volvo here on this site, it’s that here in Australia, Volvo drivers have a reputation for doing exactly that sort of thing. I can’t remember the movie, but there was one where a guy came up with an ad slogan for them - Volvo: built to protect Volvo drivers from other Volvo drivers.
I hope everything gets sorted out very soon.

It is really kind of sad that two Saabs must be wrecked in such a short period of time. One was on a track day and the 2nd by sheer stupidity of someone else - accidents never happen - they are caused by over eager drivers who miscalculate the capability of their cars and the laws of physics and finally metal fatigue or when components are run to failure. Hope both cars get fixed soon, though sometimes they are never the same. What alternative transport are you going to have Daniel in the interim until both vehicles are sorted out? The wait can be agonizing - ask me and Swade!
That is a Renault and not a Saab…
I hadn’t heard that comment about Volvo and their drivers yet, but in my case it also true.
It was a Volvo V70 driver that decided to change lanes just in the moment that I was passing through these lanes on my Triumph Trophy (that’s legal where I live). I could manage to stay away from his car but I did fall anyway and broke my knee.
So I will remember the frase!
Before we had kids, the wife and I used to go to the local coffee/bagel place in downtown Annapolis on Sunday mornings and watch the Volvo drivers try to back into the parking places. It was uncanny how the Volvo drivers had so much trouble, but most of the other drivers could back in with no problem whatsoever.
I’m in a rental, waiting for the SAAB to be fixed.
But the Renault it’s of to the scrapyard, they are not going to fix it..
