Things that make you go Hmmm
I have the utmost respect for any servicemen. My nephew was attached to the Air Force here in Australia and is now a police officer back at home. People who put themselves in harm’s way to protect how their families and communities live deserve everyone’s respect for the job they do.
But it doesn’t mean they have blanket permission to deface their Saab like this:

There’s an album of these over at Flickr, including some details of the artwork.
Can’t this guy get a HHR or something?

Reminds me of the 1981 movie “Heavy Metal”…
He’s a freakin’ jarhead. Enough said.
Snot green with beige interior..

His garage probably looks something like this.

Mmm, nothing goes better together with snot green and beige than pink..
bad taste knows no bounds
Marines aren’t the smartest group of people!
Airborne All the way!
Though I can understand your comment, Detroitsaab93, If I were to “pound ground”… It would be with the Corps.
But then again, I never wanted to pound ground unless that beautiful Trident of professionalism was on my chest… Just 3 more semesters of college and then I’ll tackle BUD/S.
Thank goodness he’s not a Zoomy, eh! Just think how the Chair Force would have painted it.
GM3 Bixler, USNR, signing off!
Just some brotherly love from fellow service members. We all love to hate on each other like siblings, for those who might think this offensive.
Detroit: Jumping out of perfectly good aircraft isn’t exactly smart from a former airman’s point of view.
We don’t have any special battle cry or anything. We just go about our business.
(One of these days, I’ll dig out my official photo and lay it on you people — it’s freakin’ hilarious. So out of character for me. My wife laughs and laughs at it!)
Unbelievable — we covered all four branches of service in just seven comments!
It’s a small world.
For the record:
The US Army has more boats than the US Navy (it’s true — all of those pontoons for everything, barges, etc.)
The US Navy is the world’s sixth largest Air Force
And the US Air Force has more trucks than ANYBODY!
Crazy, but true. At least it was about ten years ago.
It’s still pretty much true today, eggs.
I’m in a security/expeditionary (brown water) Navy unit… So I’m doing all the non-traditional navy stuff that the air force, army and corps have been doing. I love it! Especially when I’m assigned to protect air force forward operating bases.
We are just one big happy, ironic, family!
Thanks for leading the way for us younger ones, eggs and detroitsaab.
Definitely brotherly love and sibling like rivalry! Army National Guard for 18 years now, the air base by my house has every branch, even Coast Guard. I’m in a Long Range Surveillance Company (ABN/INF), being Airborne I have always worked with the Air Force, what a cushy life! HA! Eggs, have you seen the new tiger stripe unis the AF wears?? The Foliage green boots kill me! Worked with the Marines and Navy at Abu Gharib back 2004. Good guys! I just found out last week I am going back to Iraq in May 2009, round 2! Wife’s a bit upset, to say the least. I’ll have over 20 years by the time I get back, so I plan to retire asap.
If a C5 is one of your “perfectly good aircraft,” I’ll jump all day long!
I saw a ton of US Army boats when I was in Kuwait, could not believe how many there were.
Talonderiel, Best of luck when you go to BUD/S, one tough school!
Detroit: Army pukes don’t jump out of C5’s, and you know it! C-130. C-141. Perfectly good aircraft.
Have not seen the new uni. All of the photos on the AF.mil site are of people in the old-school black/olive/tan “Eurocamo”.
I will say that the “new” (mid/late-1990’s) blue uni leaves me cold. When I was in the Air Force, our blue uniform was identical to the Army’s green uniform except for all of the fruit salad that the Army pins and sews onto the uni. Now the Air Force jacket is virtually a civilian blazer with epaulets. It says nothing to me.
“Detroit: Army pukes don’t jump out of C5’s, and you know it! C-130. C-141. Perfectly good aircraft.”
Ha Ha Ha Ha - I know that but I flew in a C-5 to Iraq, damn thing caught on fire when we left Spain, had to turn around, small electrical fire, filled the passenger compartment with smoke. We do jump C-17s though! C-130 tailgate jump is awesome!
The ABU (Airman Battle Uniform) has a Vietnam-era tiger stripe patternand is similar to the Army Combat Uniform (or ACU) in color, with the inclusion of blue, but is far more similar to the current BDU in layout. The ABU is to be worn with low-maintenance foliage green suede combat boots.

I like my fruit salad makes me feel cool!
The Army is dumping the Dress Greens for a modified version of the Dress Blues.
