Some more Saab stuff from Geneva

Our guys on the scene, Marcel and Gian-Luca, have been wandering the show floor at Geneva today. They’ve sent in a number of photos from the Saab stand, as well as a few more detail shots of the Saab 9-X BHC vehicle (I’m sick of writing BioHybrid Concept - doh!)

Click on any of the pics to enlarge.

Here’s a few more shots of the 9-X in detail. Close up access to the car is apparently quite limited. First up is a closer look of the camera/mirror in profile.

Next is a closer look at the front headlamp. You can see the light pipe extending across the front of the vehicle.

Back to the Future?

Here’s the solar panel in the roof, designed in this case to provide charge to the lithium ion batteries in the car. It’s not the first time a Saab concept has shown solar panels in the roof, of course, with the Saab EV-1 using solar panels to provide cabin cooling way back in 1985.

The 9-4x BioPower concept is also at the Geneva show and I’ve got to say, seeing it here again in photos, I’m liking it more and more now.

The profile is sportier than your average SUV, and it looks a bucketload better proportioned than the Ovlov XC60 just down the corridor. And the interior……..just build it!

Here’s a detail shot of the tail lights….

….and another of the headlamps. You can make out the light pipe across the bottom, which we couldn’t see distinctly at the Detroit show.

The vehicle in profile. Looks good.

….and that interior, which looks awesome!

They also have a Lynx Yellow Convertible on the show floor, which Marcel tells me looks absolutely stunning in person. It looks pretty snappy in these shots, as well.

They need to have that gear shift lever in all the current cars. Hell, they need to make an adapter kit for the 900. F-ing bad ass.

Dang right, Swade- that 9-4x interior gets better with every photo!

For those who complain about interior quality and feel: you should be happy with the 9-4x theme. It’s well-appointed in that perfect Scandinavian way. Go back and look at the photo again if you don’t think it’s fantastic. :)

The new photos coming out of Geneva are making me warm up to the 9-4.

The 9-x is also warming up on me. I just wish the roof would be horizontal and give it a more hunkered down look.

I wonder why in 1985 solar-panels were used keep the cabin cool, but not in 2008? Living in Perth, Australia I know exactly how hot the cabin gets during summer when parked for the shortest amount of time. Even in Sweden during the summers it gets hot so there’s really no excuse. It’s free energy from the sun. USE IT :)

The 9-4x must be built now!!! Not 2-3 years SAAB!!! Don’t miss the boat here please!!! I would put this up against any luxury crossover. This would sell well in the US.
Do it now and stop taking so long to bring in new product into the lineup!
I would buy one now if it was on the lot.

I was impressed with the 9-4x interior the first time I saw it, but that picture there…wow. Amazing.

Now, if Saab could take that interior, and stop over at their neighbor, Koenigsegg, and borrow the outside finish from this carbon fiber goddess, they’d sell a million!

Interior and steering wheel of 9-4X are great, lets hope that we’ll see those both also in new 9-5. 9x BHC interior is not so great:), little bit too futuristic and not so driver oriented.
