Sale item: Saab OG9-3 carbon fibre dash

Whilst imagining my Viggen all fixed and running, I was contemplating the various modifications I’d like to get into again. Prior to the accident I’d done the Koni shocks, the steering rack brace, the intake pipe and the BPV.

Whilst looking around at Elkparts, I came across this very attractive bargain. It a genuine Saab carbon fibre dash kit for the OG9-3.

Saab Carbon Fibre dash

Note: Right Hand Drive models only!

Elkparts have come across a shipment of these items and are clearing them out at less than half price. Actually, it’s closer to 60% off the normal price. These puppies are selling for £199.99, which is a steal.

The carbon fibre dash was standard issue on the Saab 9-3 Viggen and I think it might have appeared on some late model 9-3 Aeros as well. It’s an acquired taste, but I absolutely love mine.

Tell John you saw it here!

Yeah but, the thought of replacing a dashboard… yikes

Wasn’t there some pics of that process here on TS a long time ago?

It’s unfortunately mirrored… the instruments are on the wrong side :))))

It’s not a full dashboard, just the fascia that sticks on the front of the dash. Originally these items were close to $1000 here in Oz. These ones convert to around $370, which is pretty decent value.

Not sure about the process you’re referring to there, ctm. Removing a dash? Don’t think I’ve covered that, but I could be wrong.

the reality of changing the dash panel isnt as scary as you might think, half an hour to forty minutes work is all it takes.
were these really standard on the viggen?, mine has a silver/grey dash.

yeah, mine has too this silverish grey one. i think it was called Granite

OK. The carbon fibre was standard equipment here in Oz. I thought it was in the UK as well, but will have to look into it again.

Some just had it in the top part of the dash, as in this picture. The Viggens here in Oz have it right down the center as well, around the hvac etc and down around the gear lever too. I’ve got a picture here and another here, with a detail shot of the carbon fibre too.

When I saw this, I thought, “Hey, cool, that would look neat in my car”.

Then I remembered that, not only do I live in America, where we aren’t backwards like you Aussies and Brits, but I don’t have a Saab anymore, and now I’m all depressed.

I have now changed dashboards in:

      Saab 9-3
      Saab 9000
      Saab 9-5

It is not too difficult and it is easier if you have a friend to help. No need even to remove the steering wheel. ;)
