This is a Saab Sonett II, apparently stuffed with a Chevy 350 engine (a sign of things to come?)
It’s from a calendar and apparently the guy sells pages from these calendars individually, I guess for the rarity of the image. The things people can do to earn some cash these days…..

A week ago I spent most of my Saturday at the Aktive Motors shop in Oakville getting new brakes for my 9-3. Christian Skjovberg – who runs the shop, loves Saabs and is passionate about the brand, was talking about the Scania trucks. Apparently, they use supercharged turbochargers to maximize fuel efficiency for their trucks.
Now imagine a twin-supercharged quad-turbocharger slapped on a I4 under the hood of an Aero X. A “2 Super 4 Turbo” halo car that eats the breakfast of the Lamborghini Reventón and gets you twice the milage.

I wonder if it was converted to RWD?

Almost has to be RWD, the 350 will not mate to the existing Sonett tranny for sure, and there’s no way that the 350 will fit sitting on top of a GM transaxle, so it’s likely RWD.
With that small and light package with that extremely short wheelbase, that would be an exceedingly extertaining drive!!
I agree that it’s a little on the ugly side. To each his own.
