Geneva Snippets
Lots of stuff happening in Geneva, where the actual motor show started today….
——
Golfhunter was at the reveal last night and has some great shots of the Saab 9-X BioHybrid launch event, as well as some detail shots of the car.
——
Winding Road report that Saab are asking people what they think of the 9-X BioHybrid via a computer survey at the Saab stand at the motor show.
“What do you think of the 9-X’s front fascia?” “Would you buy a vehicle like the 9-X?” These weren’t the remarks of worried Saab executives, but questions posed to those viewing Saab’s 9-X BioHybrid concept. Computer stations surrounding the car - all using the chouette new Macbook Air - will keep a digital tally, allowing the bosses in Trollhattan to see just how well their show car fared.
To those bosses in Trollhattan, we’ve got some comments too - here, here, here and here.

Australian Car Advice are at the Geneva show and have some great shots of the concept car at the Saab stand, as well as some good shots of the 9-4x BioPower concept. That’s the interior I’d love to see.
——
Has anyone mentioned that BioPower is a LOT easier to type than BioHybrid?
——
Going through the various reveals from Geneva, it’s amazing how many manufacturers chose to show them in white. Lamborghini, Volkswagen, BMW, Toyota, Mercedes Benz, Brabus and Lotus all got into the whiteness.
Unfortunately, Alfa Romeo joined the party too, with it’s beautiful 8C Competizione Spider. Shouldn’t it only ever be in red?
——
The Saab 9-4x’s natural competitor, the Volvo XC60, was also unveiled in production trim in Geneva.
Good from some angles but looks very ’stretched’ from others.
——
And speaking of Volvo, Ford are looking to free them up to run on even more of a stand-alone basis. Volvo have enjoyed a significant amount of design independence from their American parent, especially when compared to Saab’s experience with GM.
It seems this is set to increase, with the downside being that it’s quite possibly a kind of “sink or swim” situation.

wasnt there supposed to be a special edition 9-5 as well?
We found that’s a Swiss-only model, Dan. No photos received yet, but not available anywhere else, anyway.
As Gripen (or whoever it was) pointed out (and with me checking the figures), it’s weird to do a special edition of a car that sell like 200 a year. It is already a special edition in the Swiss market…
Oh… And a white Alfa… That is sad to see. Someone at my work has a light blue one, and that is horrible enough…
And oh again… They are using MacBok Air. How nice. How about working with Apple instead of Sony “Windows” Ericsson to provide a decent interface experience in the car?
How about the stunning Megane Coupé?
