The Saab reviews just keep on coming!
It’s absolutely mind-numbing to try and figure out why the Saab 9-3 isn’t selling well at the moment. The reviews have all been positive, especially where the XWD models are concerned - which might be part of the problem. I’m sure things will improve when XWD models become available.
Here’s a few more reviews for you Europeans to check out (or any of you multi-lingual types):
In Swedish:
Robert Collin from Aftonbladet was at the ice Experience test drive of the Turbo X and whilst the review is subscription only, it comes with the headline Hysterically Fun!
Expressen were at the Marseile drive event and scored the Turbo X as ‘22 out of 25′, saying that the Four Wheel Drive Saab is a Success.
——
In Italian:
Quattroroute drove the TTiD Saab 9-3 and loved the low-down torque produced by the twin-turbo setup. They also seemed quite complimentary about the steering, which has been a point of contention amongst other writers. Coming from Italians, that’s impressive.
——
And from Norway, Oistein wrote to me about his own recent drive in the TTiD:
I just parked a 9-3 Aero TTiD after a spin here in Oslo. That car impresses very much with its handling, power, comfort and as a stylish car! Outside the car you can hear that this is a diesel, which SAAB should spend some time to quieten down, but inside, it is just brilliant.
And that’s from a Saab guy, as well. Oistein is currently driving his sixth Saab, a 2007 model Saab 9-5 TiD Sport Combi.
——
Hit the Road Tests category and you’ll see the 2008 Saab 9-3 is rating very well, whether with XWD or not.
Now they’ve just got to sell the things! That seems to be the hard part right now.

At the bottom of the Expressen article, the journalist states the following..
Own (As in Saaby) nice design and a tremendous overtakingpotential makes XWD and Turbo X unique in their class.
That must be the best review ever!
I tell you why. Because I have only seen one commercial for the “new” 9-3, and that was even in the base trim.
Yeah US and many other countries Saab adds are a joke. Saab doesn´t get their fair share of money. And please drop the Born from Jets c-ap! Focus on safety and looks instead.
I’m afraid SAAB still has a mountain to climb in customer perception. They need a car akin to Cadillac’s CTS (MotorWeek Car of the Year, etc) that will get people to give up their long-held opinions of SAAB and give it another look. People who do serious research into cars are going to hit all the major publications which may or may not feature a review of the 9-3 - they will certainly feature all the usual suspects and that draws people to those brands.
All the above people are correct swade.
There is just no advertising in the U.S. None.
it is so tragic that a car that is so good just cant get the perception and starlight that it DESPERATELY needs in Saabs largest market in the U.S.
When Saab U.S. wakes up and advertises like a Swedish Berserk, THEN we will see sales rise.
i lease now the 93 aero convertible 2008 (my seventh Saab…) This is a fantastic car and the best saab i have ever driven. two weeks ago in the bog snow storm (here in New York) the car drove like a four wheel drive no problem whatsoever. Born from Jets is already boring and frankly - considering the competitors - not so jet like. that is not the issue: it is about comfort, wonderful ride, safety and being DIFFERENT!! so far i have not seen any other aero in NY - maybe a bad sign for saab - but thousand of BMW and Audi convertible.
I would say something along the line of being different from the rest of the herd….
