Short Saab
I’m fascinated by this.
It was sent in by Viktor B, though I’m still waiing for some clarification as to what it’s actually used for. Viktor’s intiial advice is that it’s used in training to escape rollover accidents in Sweden.
I’ll post more as soon as I know more, but for now just enjoy the pics.
This first one is as it appears on the website the Viktor linked to. I’ve flipped the image over so you can see the vehicle right-way-up as well. It’s strange seeing a 9-3 as short as that.
And it here’s the photo flipped over so the car looks the right side up.

I agree with Viktor, it is used for training to escape rollover accidents. Just let us hope that they dont train to escape from the back seat… it seems quite tight.
Hurai,
we finaly got some Spy Pics of the 9-1 Concept car!
@Rescuekid: That’s exactly what came to my mind first when looking at the photo.
Bizarre
It’s very weird… why they cut out a big part form the middle of the car?
They probably want the car and the structure to fit on a small standard trailer that can be towad by a car when they visit places. Thats why they needed cut out a bit.
Actually I strongly disagree with everyone thinking that it would be a car for training people on how to escape rollover accidents. Few years back I actually was in similar kind of car (thou it was Volvo S60), and at least that car’s purpose was to demonstrate how effective the seat belts are. Believe or not when the car was flipped over, seat belt hold me still.
Forgot this… I have seen things like this IRL, but then they had just taken away the front and the back of a car while leaving the compartment as is. Maybe this organization (mhf.se) got the Saab for free, and the condition was that they keep the front and back to advertise the brand a little?
… thou I have no idea what the guy is doing in the picture.
maybe it’s a good thing there wasn’t a MY08 coupe

Moose,
It is both. Show people how effetive the seat belts are even in this situation, but also let people feel how it is to get out of the car in this position. If you end up upside down in water you need to get out fast, and that is not easy when upside down in the seat belts. For some reason I didn’t try it myself those times I seen demonstrations like this.
Funny looking car. Kind of resembles the previous generation Mercedes SLK.
yes ive seen one of these before, when i was training for my rally license, we had to use a car in a gig like this, in my case an Audi A4, to simulate how to safely exit a car in an emergency situation. the instructor said that he has see many a driver escape uninjured from a serious car crash, after the car had flipped, only to then go and seriously hurt themselves through stupidly opening there safety belts and landing on there heads.
I second SLK!
Saab rotisserie!
Fix up the window lines, and give it a hatch. It might sell.
