Saab Pride - Norwegian Style

It’s time for another entry in the Saab Pride of Ownership competition, proudly presented by yours truly and my mates at Elkparts.

Today’s entry comes from Alexander O, in Norway.

This is a 2004 Saab 9-5 Vector Estate 2,0t automatic with pretty much every extra except for navigation. On the 9th of January the car has its 4 year anniversary, and the car has now gone for 45 000km without any problems at all.

Because it sits on 15″ steel rims in the winter, I chose to use some pictures I’ve taken in the summer when it has on its beautiful 17″ ALU39 (Old Aero-rims).

The first picture is taken at Holmenskjæret beach, which is in Asker, just outside of Oslo. As of today, the beach is covered in snow and the water is just a couple of degrees over freezing, but the day the picture was taken it had been a very warm day and the car had just been given a thorough wash by yours sincerely.

The second picture isn’t by any landmark, it’s just been taken in our driveway. But I just love the design of the 9-5 from that angle!

And as a little bonus, I’ve added a Youtube clip I’ve filmed of our two Saabs, the 9000CD which you see first, and then second the 9-5. Driving from my house on the motorway, past Sandvika which now has Scandinavia’s biggest shopping mall, and to Høvik where I pick up the 9-5.

Beauty of a 9-5. I’d so take a 9-5 Combi over an SUV or “CUV” any day. Yours is a beaut, Alexander. From that angle in your driveway the car looks like it has the Aero body kit, but you say it’s a Vector? Do they share the same body kit (the Vector and Aero, I mean)? Thanks for sharing. Nice pics too.

1985 Gripen: It had the same exterior as the 2004 Aero, including the rims, but it is a Vector.

Edonis: I don’t think they sold the Vector trim level in the U.S. I would like an Aero, mainly because of the sporty exterior styling, more than the extra horsepower under the hood (call me shallow), so I wish they had sold the Vector here.

I believe we only got the Linear, Arc, and Aero.

1985 Gripen: I think the Vector is the most sold trim in Norway, and the Arc got discontinued in either 05 or 06. The Aero is very rare here, and the majority of 9-5s have the base 2,0t engine (now biopower).

While our car looks identical to a 2004 9-5 Aero and has the same equipment level, the engine is only a 150hp/240Nm (although I believe it’s actually a 165hp). I’d love to have the base engine in the US, but due to the norwegian tax system it is just too expensive. The price difference between a 2,0t and a 2,3t is approx $10 000 here..
