Not a POO entry, but Saab Pride nonetheless
I’ve been posting entries for the Saab Pride of Ownership competition for the better part of two slid months now. The end is nigh, but I needed to get this one on the site as well.
This one’s a bit different and whilst it’s not an official entry, Jeff K thought he’d send it in anyway. The reasons why it’s not in the competition will become apparent…
….but beautiful work all the same.
From Jeff K:
——
I am reluctant to enter a photo into the competition for 2 reasons. #1 I am a professional photographer by trade, so it may not be fair to the other entrants. #2 There’s no landmark in my photo! I live near the beach in southern California and I thought that might make a nice quasi-landmark background. But being the perfectionist that I am, nothing looked right short of pulling the car onto the sand, and that just wasn’t going to happen.
Anyway, you’ve motivated me to get a photo out of my head that was fermenting up there for quite some time. And being that it turned out nicely, it’d be wrong of me not to share. With that said, if you want to leave this out of the competition I COMPLETELY understand. I didn’t even follow the rules!
Meet my 2002 9-3 Viggen 3 door. This is my second Saab and by far the fastest thing I’ve ever owned. As you approach, the whistle of the unlocking keyless entry means fun isn’t far away. Everything about this car screams “GO” — the color, the stance, the body, the sound. Even in stock form it’s more than enough to induce smiles and goosebumps with every turn of the key.
As my daily driver and Swedish Sherpa, the hatch is perfect. I can haul a couple hundred pounds of gear to shoots with room to spare (and I don’t even need to fold down the rear seats).
My Saab is a decathlete — good at everything, compromising nothing. Outstanding safety. The seats are h-e-a-v-e-n. Never-ending fun. 30+ highway MPG. Intelligently designed. Uncommon, gorgeous looks. I have my dream car.

Didn’t know they came in Red…
In the US they did. And yellow, and silver, and blue and black.
Jeff K, I like you but also hate you too in the good sense of the word !!! A Vigg in red is awesome for a start and then the way you keep it is amazing. If you live in the OC area I will be ther at the end of the month. Perhaps we can catch up and chew the fat if you are free. Your car is truely magnificent, congratulations mate.
Jeff K,
One hell of a great shot!
I believed that red should be left to Ferraris, but after seeing this photo, I will own a red Saab someday.
Nice one!
and since ur showing shots of random Saabs Swade…
I don’t want to be left out!!

Richo, very nice too. Is that an example of High Dynamic Range Imaging? I know they can’t be viewed on a standard monitor, but the look can be simulated.
That is a great shot and sweet looking rocket of a Viggen. Also, Richo’s is stunning to say the least.
Thanks Swade and everybody else for the kind words.
Yeah, Richo’s Vigg is a stunner but only when it’s clean. When I saw it last I thought he had 2 Viggs as it was not like this picture !!!
You wouldn’t happen to have that stunning wallpaper in 1440×900, would you?
Steve, there’s a link to a big version underneath the photo. You should be able to re-size that to your needs. - SW
That picture is just incredible! (Looks amazing with the desktop space around it being black)
But I couldn’t resize the image - paint refuses to open it, due to an unknown format
(Even though it says jpg)
@Joe Lobo sounds good! i live in OC. email me at bigjetsky at gmail dot com.
here are some resized versions if anyone is having trouble…
1680×1050
1600×1200
1440×900
1280×1024
1280×800
Saw this stunning photo of a stunning Viggen on the TSL sight …..and the drool continues here…great work & great words, Jeff K!
Jeff,
Nice car! I like Viggens a lot and don’t see many red ones. Yours is a looker!
As to the photo, is it all one original image or is there some work being done to the wheels to get the light on to the rotors?
~P
‘93 9000 Aero.
Never mind Jeff, it looks like you put separate images of a wheel (rear?) over the rest of the image. I like how the rotors are visible, but my eye wouldn’t let me believe it since there’s no light on any other vertical face in a parallel plane.
~P
@PGAero — good eye. there was some curb rash evident on my rear wheel and it was bothering me so i copied the front wheel to the back. otherwise all original save some minor levels and curves adjustments.
-jeff
I didn’t check the lighting at all, but I was wondering how you got the wheels in exactly the same position in their rotation
