I’m sure you’ve all seen this highly revered sticker on older Saabs:

D12_Troll.jpg

Well, I’ve just had a set of new images sent to me by a guy calling himself Saabstrupe.

Perhaps Saab are considering an expanded range for the future?

:-)

Great fun, but would you stick something else than a troll on your saab ?

What will the Graz/Austria variant sticker look like (as long the convertible will be produced there ?)

But on the other hand saab has a tradition producing cars outside of trollhattan, even in pre-GM times (i.e. Valmet Finland).
I remember seen somwhere that some 99’s were even produced in Mechelen, Belgium, so a sticker variant for those remaing cars will be welcome.

Very true, Wilfried. Both my 99 Turbos and my Viggen were made in Finland.

Wow, that 9-4x one is a little racist. I mean, wow. Could be worse, he could have used a tomale in a sombrero…

Well, Jeff, considering that the Trollhattan one is so flattering, I’ll take my chances with the Mexican one.

Actually, if you are offended by the Mexican one, you should also be offended by the German one. Direct equivalents. Your bias is the difference. You think that the Mexican “traditional” cartoon is a negative stereotype because your culture has used it in that way. The German “traditional” stereotype is every bit as racist, it’s just that your culture doesn’t use that image in a negative way. Believe me, there are some people who have negative feelings towards Germans that would likely lean the opposite way. Given that the author of these seems to be a Swede (Strupe in the name), I take no offense.

Jeff: I work down in Mexico quite a bit and in their tourist shops in Ensenada, for example, they have all kinds of T-shirts with cartoon caricatures like that on them. I don’t think it’s racist and I doubt any Mexicans would really object. They aren’t as P.C. down there as we are up here.

In fact, a lot of Mexican-Americans who live around here have stickers on their cars and mudflaps and such featuring Speedy Gonzales.

The only suggestion I would have for the Mexican sticker above is it should say, “Hecho en”, which is Spanish for “Made in”.

Can I get a sticker that says, “TrollhattanSaab.net: Made in Tasmania by Tasmanian Devils“?

    Trollhattan by Trolls
Russelheim by Ruses (Rus as in Russians — work with me here)
    Ramos Arizpe by Rams
    Morain by Morons?

I thought about the Troll sticker when I say saw them on Ebay, but my Saabs made in Finland too. A 1999 9-3 Monte Carlo.

Speaking of stickers, I did buy this one: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Saab-Stolzer-Elch-9-7X-9-2X-9-3-9-5-9000-900-600_W0QQitemZ220196497459QQihZ012QQcategoryZ57350QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
And he uses a picture of my Monte Carlo in his add now.

Eggs – It just made me think of that Rob Schneider “NAFTA” skit on SNL 15 or so years ago:

“Because of NAFTA, your job is now my job. Your boss is now my boss. Your wife is now my wife. HEEHEEHEEHEEHEE!” *breaks open US pinata so all the candies fall down to Mexico

I dunno, it’s something about his expression. I’m not really offended by it, it just seemed a little over-the-top. You’re right, though, the German one is pretty much the same.

Also, Morain by Morons? Heh. Morain by Morays…that would be scary.

Gripen – Of course Mexicans love Speedy Gonzales, he was the only Mexican in a lead role on TV for years and years until Chico and the Man came on the air, and that doesn’t even count, since Freddie Prinze was Puerto Rican. He was a pioneer! :D Actually, I heard Cartoon Network won’t show Speedy cartoons anymore because they’re “racist”. They also won’t show smoking (which means no more Groucho Marx impressions from Bugs Bunny), or anvils (which rules out every Roadrunner cartoon), or people getting shot…ugh. Political correctness annoys me.

I laughed out loud when I saw the German and Mexican ones. Those are great!

But as for Morons in Ohio, all I can say is they must have moved there from Michigan. :)

Does anyone know where I could get the small viggen stickers for the front guards/wings. My saab is now a vigge on one side and a iggen on the other. I havent used the pressure spray since.
I have found a ereplacment for the whole thing, ie the chrome moun t, but all I need is the sticker part.

    Thanks.

PS I think ive worked out that I am a collector of cars made in Finland, bothe the areo and viggen both from finland, finland finland (Monty Python had a influence)

And I will start following some of these great link on my quest
