Who’s in for some stickers?

I’ve had suggestions and offers to do these in the past, but never followed up on them as I’m not big on putting stickers on my car.

After another email last night, I figured maybe now’s the time. Can’t hurt to test the waters, at least.

I’m after your suggestions and comments please. Imagine all the examples below being printed on clear. There’ll be no background color, just the coloured lettering.

What would be your preference:

    - spaced lettering or regular lettering?
    - what color? I’ve tried to provide a few options below to give an idea.
    - a small sticker, say, for the rear side window - or a larger one for across the rear window?
    - for adhesion inside the window or outside the window?
    - would you be willing to pay, say $3 or $4 to cover production and postage?

Here are the examples I whipped up last night.

      the logos are cool but i would love to see the griffin next to the lettering, or is that not allowed?

      Maybe I should put on my old sticker “Du ligger för nära, bonnläpp!”. :)

      I´ve got one with a griffin next to the domain of the forum I´m writing at. I think it looks great in white. Maybe Swade will post the picture I sent in for the “Pride of Ownership” contest.

      My preferences:

      - spaced lettering
      - Silver or gray
      - a small sticker (for the rear side window)
      - adhesion outside the window
      - Yes, willing to pay, say $3 or $4 to cover production and postage
      - adding Griffin would be cool

      I’d say, lose the “www” part. It’s an unnecessary clutter. I like red on white with tight spacing.

      My preferences:
      - spaced lettering (close call, the “www” might serve as an eye-catch to many)
      - red
      - small sticker for the rear side window
      - adhesion inside the window (a la the vintage “Made by Trolls” sticker)
      - yes, willing to pay $3 or $4 to cover production and postage
      - Griffin w/Saab might be cool (be careful about copyright)

      I’m all for a sticker or two, would happily display it. I agree to loosing the www as it’s not needed anymore for advertising. What I would love to see is a viggen or 96 outline as per the headers.

      no “www” that looks silly. We all know how to navigate the interwebz! :)

      Im unsure about stickers on my car but the time may come that it gets plastered with sponsors. Right now the only sticky I have is a giant “SPEEDPARTS thats why im faster than you” decal, but that one is allowed. :)

      i plead the 5th!!! ;-)

      i like the subtle nature of that
      5th (last one). it has clear
      backing, right?

      hey swade, could you generate a different version of that, but with black lettering for
      our viewing?

      t-shirts, too! ;-)

      cheers!

      :-)

      What’s your goal in making stickers, Swade? If it’s more exposure, you might design and offer a graphic readers can print for themselves.

      As to the look of the web address, it looks good in either form. Just be sure to make the lettering heavy enough to read from a distance.

      I do like the idea of adding a picture logo as a logo draws the eye to what is written. Maybe a cartoon picture of your bearded face would do the job!?

      I would prefer a design like the last one with no http://www. and I think that color and font are really nice. I like the back rear window look with the sticker placed on the inside of the glass.

    • WillyD said:

      I think the first one is better, but maybe in bold for visibility. Would look good below a griffin.

    • Jeff said:

      I’d prefer white-on-black.

    • RJ said:

      The original red (top) trollhattansaab.net design would be perfect as a windshield banner. I would definitely sport this in a heartbeat. Another color scheme I would recommend is a black background with silver lettering.

      I’m with Ivan. First or last one. Even black text on clear backing, but definately that style. I’d like mine to put at the top of the rear window, maybe 6 or 8 inches long?)

      Yeah i like the idea with stickers, i’m with the previous posts.. lose the “www”

      Any of therm with Griffin!

      I prefer the ones with no spacing by far :”/ I’m quite alone with that preference, I see. :)

      But about the colours, I love the last one, specially if it’s grey over transparent: it would look great and discrete over glass.

      Andy: Swade reportedly dumped the beard. Said his wife didn’t like it. Plus, it’ll make him stand-out from the stereotypical Saab owner! ;-)

      I have a beard so all I need now are a pipe, a tweed jacket with elbow patches, and a university to teach at and I’ll meet the stereotype! :-)

    • ctm said:

      Gripen: I think he dumped the beard because he is taking the plane to the US this month… ;)

    • PT said:

      Swade not only dumped the beard, he’s also stopped reading the Koran every hour and thrown out all his white robes.

      The last one is the best.

      good form of advertising the blog. more shine for you.

      * lettering: spaced
      * color: black
      * size: both
      * adhesion: back
      * price: ok

      First one looks great. Keep it simple and dont add any thing.

    • logan said:

      I’m in for the first and last style. simple and subtle.

    • John G. said:

      Hi; My vote is for #5 first pick. I prefer subtle understated. And #1 for second pick.

    • Hawkeye said:

      5th version Swade, grey (silver) over transparent about 5 to 6 inches long max, not so much to advertise I imagine, but for other fellow Saab enthusiasts to recognize each other. Adhesion, leave that up to the printing company, which ever will last the longest.

    • MitchbSC said:

      The wife and I like the red on white with no ‘www’. This is the first one. Simple. Matches the website. I don’t know how well the black tones would work on our black Saabs. Plus, I live in a area where sun-fade is an issue.

      The word “sticker” is used. Does anyone have information about the “cling” type stickers?

      “Clings” are non-adhesive. They can be applied to painted surfaces and are held by static-cling. Several schools in my area do these because the adhesive is hard to remove and cooks on to surfaces in the summer heat. I prefer to avoid stickers on my windows for this reason.

      I don’t mind the proposed production and postage fee.

    • Andy Rupert said:

      Sorry to hear about the beard. It would have made a good logo. But I can understand as my wife didn’t like mine either.

      I, too, like the idea of a cling “sticker.” I never could remove the sticker for Capitol Hill Day School from the rear window of the Turbo.
