Swedish sales data - December 2007
UPDATED - for green car sales
——
It’s a new month and that means it’s sales data time again!! As usual, Sweden’s the first place with their completed numbers, and as has been the case most (or all?) of this year, ctm’s the man with the numbers.
The Saab 9-3 was 2nd overall in the Swedish market with sales of 1,706 vehicles in December, which was up by a whopping 60% on the previous year. For the full year, Saab sold 14,183 units of the 9-3, which was up by around 27%.
The flipside to the 9-3’s growth was declining sales in the 9-5 range. Three were 801 units of the Saab 9-5 sold in December, a fall of 36%. Full year sales of the Saab 9-5 were down by 26% at 10,698.
Total Saab sales for 2007 were much closer to 2006’s total than it looked like they would be at the start of the year. In total, Saab Sweden sold 24,901 units compared to 25621 in 2006, which was a record year. Not too bad for a transition year.
Congratulations to Saab Sweden

Green Car Sales
The Saab 9-5 BioPower was, once again, the best selling environmentally friendly car in Sweden during 2007. And in second place, finally beating out the Ford Focus in the last month of the year, was the Saab 9-3 BioPower.
Saab Sweden sold 9,085 BioPower versions of the Saab 9-5 during 2007. This was down from 2006 figures due to the introduction of the Saab 9-3 in BioPower form.
For the 9-3 BioPower, the total in 2007 was 7,700 vehicles.
In total, Saab sold 16,785 BioPower vehicles, up considerably from the 10,941 sold last year.
Thanks Vector220!

Cadillac sales were down by 22% in December, when they sold 32 vehicles. Despite this, one would have to say that Cadillac still had a stellar year in Sweden, with annual sales rising by 44% - that’s huge!
They sold 217 vehicles in 2007.
So how much did the BLS cost to develop?

Remember, without the BLS, there wouldn’t have been a so much improved 2008 9-3! On the other hand, if GM had dropped the BLS and spent the money on SAAB…, well?
Greeen cars comming…

Sent the greeeeen cars data to Swade. The 9-3 did manage to take second spot for the year.
Yep, great! Both saabs outsold everyone else…
Interesting. The BioPower cars accounting for something like 65% of Saab’s total sales in Sweden.
Apparently the gov’t of Sweden are doing all the right things as far as incentives to get drivers to embrace ethanol. I see more and more GM cars on the road (including my new one) with the little “FlexFuel E85-capable” badge on the back but where I live E85 availability is practically non-existent. There are tons of drivers out there who probably don’t know that their vehicle will even run on E85 and what the benefits are (mainly lower price-per-gallon of fuel to non-BioPower vehicles).
