Swade Travels Flickr Run!

It’s a new year, I’ve been on vacation, and I’ve finally gotten through that slug of work that’s stacked up in my e-mail inbox over the holidays and into this week.

For that reason, I apologize that I’ve got little in the way of new Saab news or clever Saab verbiage. But I do have a few interesting photos from Flickr!

One of them is well worth the wait, believe me. But you’ll have to wait until after the break.

First up, we have another Saab recently purchased by our resident Frenchman, Golfhunter. It seems that Jeff can’t keep his checkbook in his pocket whenever vintage Saabs are around. I’ve completely lost count, but it was just over two months ago when I congratulated him on his last purchase. I’m sure that it will look better when he’s through with it, but it already looks pretty good — and those appear to be genuine TRX wheels! Now, if you could only find tires to fit…

Next, a fine example of a Saab 99 Turbo 2-door in original condition. Our brother-in-arms, Thorstensson, found an unbelievably well-preserved 99 and has obviously maintained it well. Take a look at the Incas. I love Incas. They are a unique part of Saab heritage.

Oh, and the photo is excellent.

More after the break…

Finally, there are two photos from Swisstroll that caught my eye.

First, the serious one: The old and new together at the Geneva Auto Show. Ursaab (respect!) and AeroX (the great one!) together on one platform. The beginning and the end in one location! I might be talked out of a kidney for the chance to spend the day on that stage.

And then, there’s this other photo from Swisstroll.

You’re
going
to
have
to
scroll
for
it.

Because
it’s
spectacularly, umm…

spectacularly odd.

I call this committment. Probably helped along by a few beers, but it is committed nonetheless.

Man, the older 99-style side vent looks so much cooler than the newer 99/c900-style.

And that’s an awesome haircut. I want a Saab tattoo. Or at least a fire-breathing griffin with a crown. I still say Saab has the coolest logo.

Agreed. That T-shirt that I got from Ivan’s shop with just the Griffin on the shirt is sweet. That’s as close as I’ll get to the tattoo thing. EnG

Ermm , I just want to say that finally it won’t be this grey T8 for me but maybe another one .It’s a secret for the moment ….
This lovely T8 in Grenoble will probably move to Marseille where lives his future owner .
      To be continued …
My checkbook suffers indeed ..But the emotion of getting a new oldtimer is so strong . I’m totally addicted .
Even if the probleme of storage is also difficult to resolve when you live in town .

Thanks for the comments ! I made this aircut two times and my hairdresser and i didn’t drunk any beer before (but we celebrate it afterwords !)

On my green 900 T8 the Inca wheels are the “winter wheels” as we say here in Switzerland, for summertime i’ve got the original TRX too…

if the new 9-1 looks anything like that blue 99 turbo *DING DING DING* we have a winner!
usually I am against retro design…but the 99 still looks perfect to me.

I sure hope when that tattoo guy was still inebriated his friends messed with him and asked him why he got a Volvo logo tattooed on the back of his head. ;-)

You know, I’d really like to see a return of the combi-coupé on the 9¹ but barring that, I wouldn’t mind seeing a return of the look on the rear of that 99 notchback. It’s got a trunk but it’s still a unique look that’s particularly “Saab”.

Just found out about this page via my Flickr stats… Glad you liked my old pride =)
There is some work to be done to her but it will hopefully be done in due time.
      Thanks for your comments!
