Speedparts - Saab performance and tuning

I feel an overwhelming need to apologise to Speedparts, as I haven’t had them on the Parts and Performance links on the sidebar.

When visiting Trollhattan, especially during the Saab Festival, you’re quite likely to see a bunch of young men with hot Saabs, the guys wearing T-shirts with the following design on them:

Speedparts

Speedparts are based in Uddevalla and have heaps of experience modifying Saabs. As the name suggests, they’re performance specialists and have a full range of Saab performance parts and tuning systems.

The website is primarily in Swedish, so you may have a little trouble navigating it. Fortunately for those English-only types out there, Speedparts products are distributed in the UK by long-term TS sponsor, Elkparts. The Elkparts list of Speedparts products is here.

Welcome, Speedparts, to the TS family. And please accept my apologies for taking so long to get you on the sidebar.

Are you going to apologize to BSR too now? What about Automotion or Jak Stoll? ;]

      Just in case,
      http://en.bsrab.se/
      http://automotion-saabvolvo.com/motorsports/
      http://jakstollperformance.com/

I’ve covered BSR plenty over the last couple of years, but fair enough. Never heard of automotion at all. And Jak, I’ve heard good things but my only email to him was returned with a “please call between 9-5 Carolina time” or something like that. Happy to put him on, but won’t lose sleep over it having taken a while. - SW

      Hi!
I’m thinking of tuning my 9-5 220 to be E85 capable. But I can’t find any figures about the fuel efficiency with the tuning kits. (BSR). There estimate tells me 28-39% increase, but that isn’t the case on the original E85 Saabs. At least not the once I’ve tested.
So, my question is simply: Has anyone out there tested the BSR (or any other) E85 conversion kit and what was the fuel consumption?
Also, the BSR kit is also a kit for higher output, is there any kit for conversion only? I believe my original 220 bhp is enough. Even if the +57 hp is fun, I think a better fuel efficientcy is more needed in my case.

You just simply have to figure that running E85 you will be consuming 30% more fuel.

Marie: Well, this isn’t the case with BioPower vs. non BioPower Saabs. I’ve done some own research by driving a non and a BioPower the exact same route. And the BioPower needed exactly 14.3 % more fuel. As I then stated it might be a bit more since it was a “winter blended E85″ (E75) But the standard petrol in Sweden is a E10 blend so we can’t get an total accurate figure on this one.
But if I’m adding 30% of fuel consumption and the E85 is 28.7% (today prices). This means that my savings will be 9.5 US cents per 10 km. The cost of the tuning will be paid of after 83460 km…That’s in about 3 years.

Also, I’ve read Gripens real world test hear at Swades phenomenal blog. Gripens test also indicates a better fuel consumption than the standard additional 30%. He also have some “ifs” and “buts”…(  sorry)

This is why I would like to se if someone tested or heard of test result with BSR or any other tuners E85 kit. Can the kit get the same real world figures that I and Gripens tests indicate with original E85 compatibility by SAAB?
If Yes, I’ll buy one immediately, if no, I’ll skip it.
