Saab Pride - Norwegian Style
It’s time for yet another Saab Pride of Ownership competition entry, the competition being brought to you by TS and my good mates at Elkparts.
This exercise sure is getting interesting, and the photos just keep on coming. Today’s images are from Arild, in Norway.
Winter……..brrr.
——
Here are some of pictures of my Saab. I was waiting for the snow to come, but the wait was in vain. Christmas decided to be mostly black and brown this year. The day I took the pictures, December 22nd, the weather was kind of gloomy and the pictures suffer from that.
On the first picture my Saab is standing on the border to Sweden, in what is called Finnskogen (Forest of the Finns). Finnskogen was populated by Finns who fled from famine in Finland in the 17th century. They liked Finnskogen because it reminded them of home: Lots of woods and lakes and tarns. The legend says that when the border commission came to draw the border between Norway and Sweden, one Finn living on the Swedish side put Norwegian soil in his shoes and swore under oath that he was standing on Norwegian soil, and so the land was declared Norwegian.
In the picture above my car is standing on the border. On the hill on the other side of the lake you can see the “border road” going up the hillside (the white line). Behind the car you can see the road sign “Riksgrense Sverige” (“Border to the kingdom of Sweden”)
On the final picture, below, my car is in front of the old and abandoned customs station. When they built this station in the 1950s, they discovered the fiddle of Haltegutten (the Limp Boy). Haltegutten lived in Finnskogen in the beginning of the 19th century. The legend says that Haltegutten sold his soul to the devil so that he could play the fiddle like noone else. In front of the car on the right side you can see the old road sign made by a rock and it reads “Riksgrænsen. 925′ over Havet. 1870″ – “The border: 925 feet above the water level. 1870”.
My car is a 2003 Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan Vector with original performance spoiler kit by Saab. It has the 2.0 litre turbo engine with 150HP, but Hirsch has done a little magic and now the output is 195HK and 310Nm. The car was # 1257 made in MY2003.
The colour is Dolphin Grey and I have named the car Dolphie J
I and Dolphie have been to Sweden lots of times. Once we went to Helsingborg (in the south of Sweden) to give Dolphie a little more power; Hirsch Performance! I am extremely satisfied with the Hirsch tuning. The power output is very smooth and the car accelerates without any hesitation
.
We’ve also been to Trollhättan many times. Every time we go there I pet little Dolphie on the dashboard and tells him that I love him and that he’s back home at his birthplace. On one of our trips to Trollhättan we got him some new Aero rims J
We have also visited the factory. Poor little Dolphie had to wait outside when I took the tour.
I love my car because he looks extremely sharp, he has a great engine, great driving characteristics and he is truly unique. And I know that if I am unfortunate and get involved in a crash, he will guard me with he’s own life and he will do it better than any other car on the market.
My little Dolphie has a heart and a soul!
Best regards,
Arild

I’m loving the bluish shade of the 1st two photos, seems to emphasize the cold and snow. Are they altered digitally, or is that the true look?
I just love these snowy pictures. I’m looking forward to the day I can get a pic of mine in the snow. Great shots
The only photoshopping done is the blurring of the number plate.
The first two photos were taken in the afternoon, around 3 pm, and the last photo around 12 pm midday. The great thing about the Dolphin Grey colour is that it looks different in different daylight conditions.
Dolphin grey was my favorite color, to bad it was discontinued.
Nice to see images from my country of birth!
these are great. i think dolphie j is super sweet. i love your description of your saab
Great pix. beautiful paint and bautiful country.
Here in New York, we had quite a bit of snow. I took my new Saab (but my 8th in a row…..:) for a long drive and enjoyed every second of it. truly a four season car.
Enjoy!!
