Saab Lancia 600 model on eBay!
This is turning into the unofficial month of Saab Lancia 600 lovin’, and it’s not on purpose, I tell you!
With the responses to Robin’s request, and the kind submissions by Tompa and Eirik, this has been quite a string of good information on a little-known part of Saab history. Well, lightning strikes again!
While on eBay, minding my own business, this listing popped up on a search that I’d done for a couple of accessories for my “new” 9-5. A genuine 1980 Saab Lancia 600 1:43 1:20 model, still in original condition!
To make things even more bizarre, this model is offered for sale by someone that lives only about 50 miles (80 km) from me! What are the odds? I say that the odds that a model of a car that was only sold in Sweden in small numbers, was not a celebrated design for any reason, ceased production 25 years ago, is offered for sale the week that we are talking about it and is owned by someone within an hour’s drive of my house are absolutely incalculable.
Yet it’s real. Check the pics! A true Saab collector’s item, without doubt. If you’ve got the Jones for a Saab Lancia 600 model, this is likely your only chance, and there’s only about 4 hours left on the auction.

Update:
From the current owner of this Saab Lancia 600 model:
Yes, indeed, this is a REAL coincidence!!! Thanks for [noticing] my strange little guy. I acquired him about 20 years ago at the Toledo, OH, Toy Fair from Dale Dannefer of Rochester, NY. As I recall he had a pair of them. I was big into Stahlberg SAABs then (eventually had around 160 of them!) and of course had never seen the Saab-Lancia 600, so just HAD to have it. Have kept it–and a dozen or so others–since then. We are contemplating a move to smaller quarters so am thinning out the collection, hence the e-Bay auction. Enjoyed the visit to trollhattansaab.net, and will go there again. Have no idea if the 600 will sell - have been doing e-Bay for 5 years and it gets stranger by the day! …he may remain a Tennesseean! Best wishes. Alan

I had a crack at the auction an wondered at the high price, but then saw that it’s actually a 1:20 scale model. Bigger=more expensive. Am currently the high bidder but under the reserve. Can’t justify any more though.
Thanks, Swade, I read the description and then wrote without checking. I should have.
He mentioned in his note that the reserve was hefty. I can’t imagine with the market for this is — it is very rare, but there are very few who would even care about this car. I don’t have a clue as to where those lead you in terms of pricing.
Oh, and look at what else he has.
over the last year I have seen about 4 600’s come onto ebay and most have sold for about £20.
robin m: the car or the scale model of the car?
Gripen, the scale model in this case. But then I knew you knew that.
